If it were a highway run the 996tt will pull away.

I easily beat a e55 off the launch and from a 1st gar roll i had him all the way untill the end of 3rd. I was completly stock...
really hard to say... the TTs really got great torque down low(i had 2 Turbo and Turbo S)... i really think the full exhaust and header helped me out alot... guys i really don't care how much HP exhausts make but just posting what i've experienced from owning the 997S...

I think we need to set up some friendly comparison runs.

0-60MPH in 3.9secs and 1/4 Mile in 12.3 at 114MPH

I always loved that article, not because they came to the conclusion that the 997s was the best under $100,000, but the whole article.

Do the naysayers think that the AWE specs for HP gain to be exaggerated?

Every single one of them is full of marketing hype, not just AWE. I have Fabspeed mufflers but I got them just because they sound the best. Even though they claim 10hp increase I can not tell a difference but they sure sound good.

I not trying to call you a liar but I would have to say its the driver. Having driven both and owning two turbos there is no possible way this could happen given equal drivers. Even if you picked up 20 hp to the rear wheels on the 997 which I would say would be a miracle there is no chance.

I am with you on this one. I do not think you will see any real gains with those mods especially the headers. Did you ask for a refund?

I myself also didn’t believe the claim form AWE system, until my friend give me a ride of his full AWE setup I was sold. I just got my AWE system setup with cats, mufflers, headers, EVO intake & GIAC. Wow! What a different. I notice the power increase & the quickness, now I can go 7000rpm easy. Even I am cursing 100mph my rpm is under 3000, before the AWE setup my rpm is around 3300 – 3400rpm. I guest you must have the right combination setup & the right GIAC program… to make the different.

HP wise between the 997S and the 996TT is really not that much(997S with full exhaust and software and intake should bring around 400hp)... and when you sub in the 400lb deficit in weight on the Turbo it really adds up to similar acceleration #s... NO SURPRISE!... and seat of the pant doesn't count at all since one is a Turbo and one is NA...

Yup, hp isnt that much lower and weight is a major factor, also the gearing on the 997S is better, allowing for faster acceleration. Im willing to run a stock 996 turbo if ther is one in my area. Im willing to bet it wont be as bad as people think. I have muffler bypass pipes and GIAC.

Question: I have Muffler bypass pipes and GIAC, and can easily say that it didnt make my car a little quicker. Would it be worth putting on headers while keeping the stock cats.

It is interesting that we see claims, debates, naysayers, fans about mods, X51 package vs.vs but we never see comparison runs between them even for the kick off it.
