What Kind of Power From HEADERS AND CHIP

So what could you expect from this combo? Any noticable difference? I like the way my car sounds now. If I went with headers only would I change the sound? Would headers and a chip give me a mild power boost?

If you still restric the exhaust flow with stock mufflers what's the point? Rob Bonds on the other forum did headers, chip, mufflers with dyno runs but said he did not notice much if any difference. Especially for the amount it cost.

I have the full AWE setup plus the EVO intake installed by Lucent and I notice a BIG difference. Highly recommended.

Yeah, I have heard a lot of conflicting info, which is making my decision difficult, too. I've heard like mdrums said that it does very little, and I've heard that headers/exhaust/intake/chip adds 40-50 whp. I would like to believe that, but who knows?

It'll save me $10K if it doesn't do much. The 80-100hp bump from Ruf's Kompressor is real, but it's $23K real.

StrtSwpr996 is infamous around these parts
I say go for it, i have the giac chip and muffler bypass pipes. although you might not "feel" it, your car will deff be faster. I will be getting a dyno hopefully soon and i will post my results. I did not do any before runs but i figure that a stock 997s does around 305 - 310 whp?

That's a good guess. I did dyno my stock 997S and it put down 310whp/265wtq. If/when I do the power mods, I will dyno it again at the same place to keep it consistent.

I did chip intake exhaust on my nissan and I don't think it added much.

I think it is too early in my warranty to add an SC. My last 996 got a new engine. It would have sucked if I had the SC on that engine. No coverage at all.

I did a chip and muffler and small intakes mods to a 1999 corvette and noticed NOTHING.

Naturally aspirated motors are very tough to get extra power

the only way to notice if these mods actually improve performance noticeably besides getting dyno figures( which are never consistent) is to race off rolls with the same car before and after, (1/4 mile runs depend too much on driver).. I ran my friends built NA M3 when i was stock and i was dead even with him. I recently ran him again with bypass pipes and GIAC and i easily walked him.

Headers & ECU make a big difference on a 997S.

ditto! Headers and exhaust, X51 or anyother airbox and ECU should be around 40-60whp...
