old poster but new 997! now what?!?! or dare i ask
well, it's kind of new...just purchased a 2006 997 (9.9k miles) this evening and haven't posted here since having sold my '99 996. my first comment is WOW! what a difference between my old car and this one. i really never loved my 996 (year, color, etc) but off to a good start with the 997. i promised my wife not to ask this question but i must!
what are the first mods (if any) for this car?
the car came with 18" wheels and i think that is a starting point.
i did the porsche sport suspension/exhaust on my last car and i won't do those again. i also did the in-car, short shift kit as well as the smoked turning signal mod.
this car seems almost perfect in its current clothing. i don't have the nav/dvd option though.
hope that everyone had a great holiday season and wishing you all a happy new year.

well, now having read thru some threads i've changed my mine.....spring mod sounds like a possibility unless it's PSS9 or nothing type thing.
will order the clear side markers, tomorrow.

Mods? 997s don't need mods! Just leave it stock . . .

I lowered mine with TechArt springs. I think that's a good first mod, and will compliment the new shoes nicely. Also the short shift kit, definitely. I added my NAV afterwards, and it's nice to have.
Other than that, I would suggest you start with headers, 200 cell racing cats, aftermarket exhaust, a supercharger, and a GT3 steering wheel and shifter, and then just drive it for a while and enjoy it before getting serious about going to the next level.
Congratulations on your purchase. Pics or ban!

i love your taste in toys, especially your MV Agusta F4S (ducati here). i think the TechArt Springs are a must EVEN with the current tire/wheel combo, i will be calling Arling early Tuesday morning.....given that my wife will drive this from time to time (and that i only drive 1mi to work) i'm a bit hesitant on the shift kit but appreciate why you would list it.
thanks again.
btw: i absolutely love your car.
