more turbos seem to be tips

My dealer has indicated that about 75% of the tubros they order or tips. they say you can shift faster. I bet that well over 90% of the ownsers of porsches never get to a tract or race. It is just more fun to me to have a manual (except in Atlanta traffic). I don't race anyone and never will-it just seems more controlling to have the gear etc. maybe it's a sexual thing. Like I would never own a jaguar and I bet 98% of porsce owners are male, and 99% of those with manuals of any variety are male. What do you think.

I'm 14, 15 in a month... but in my short year of driving, i have completely fallen in love with the manual transmission... it is so much more fun to drive, you really feel like you control all aspects of the car. None of my friends know how to drive manuals so I feel like I've got an edge over them. Our 997S is manual. Hoping to drive it soon.

Black on black 2006 997 C2S with Tip. Prior was 1996 polar silver/black 993C2 with 6-speed. Much prefer the Tip, and anyone who says he prefers the 993 over 997 can't afford a 997...

Age 52 in a few days.

I disagree, maybe just in Little Rock, but most of the porsches driving around are either Cayennes or boxters, and most of them are driven by females... My mom drives a porsche 997s cab and a lady down the street from us drives a 996 TT cab. The woman across the street has a Cayenne S... Probably right about the manual transmission though... only woman I know who drives one is... my mom, but she's obsessed, she says it reminds her of when she used to drive around in her old Chevette...

Well I don't own a P-car (as I am only 17), but my dad has owned 3, all of which were manual. 997s manual, 996 Turbo, and 996 S. I think the only Porsche's that I would consider owning w/ tip-tron would be the Cayenne Turbo (hands down my favorite SUV ever) and the new 997 Turbo. Although I would have a hard time choosing between manual or tip on the new Turbo.

P.S. IMO manual cars own auto's in the car-to-driver feel; just something about engaging the clutch and switching gears that I love. I drive a 2004 APS TT 350z (tastefully modded of course, no "rice")

VERY true. Especially around where I live. TONS of ladies driving around in P-cars. Mostly Boxters and Cayenne's though.

I'm 28, and only manual but it's not a DD. I still would get a manual for DD.

Porsche has done such a great job with their cars, all my mom's friends always say "Wow girl! you're lookin great in that car!!! how pretty!!!!!!" It gets kinda annoying, but there is just something about how beautiful the cars are that appeals to women. Just makes it easier to pick up women while driving one i guess...

gotta add,

im in la, drive 20+mi (bev hills to northridge) each way to school (5 days a week) in bumper to bumper traffic. and i have no mufflers.

if i had to do it all over....... i would still take a stick.

unless you physically cannot drive a stick and you drive a tip p car then youre a weenie and should be driving a caddilac

911 (996 or 991) and turbo gender

My statement about males and porsches was meant to be 911s and turbos. Not SUV. I still think 95% of turbos and 991 types are males. And 99% of manual drivers are male. Just my thoughts-maybe I'm wrong though.
