Tip or Manual, and what's your age
I have had 2 tips--911 and 2002 tt. I have had 9 manuals-My new car-ordered but not delivered is a C4s Manual. Seems that unless you are in great traffic, the manuals are just more fun to drive. I am also one of the oldest members on this forum-maybe the oldest-i am 69-still working everyday as a radiologist-and taking delivery of my 12th porsch in a couple of weeks.
I wonder if your Porsche is a manual or tip and what age group most of this forum represents.
Seems like the majority of new turbos are tips. not sure about the 997s. My guess is manual.

35.... First Porsche is a 2002 C2 Cab. 6Speed Manual.
I think the manual is more engaging & entertaining. I think that the tiptronic (expecially with the TT's that can be spooled up) could produce faster results with the average driver and would definitly be better in stop & go traffic. I have a 50-mile (each way) commute that luckily almost never hits stop & go so the Manual works out just fine.

I am a radiologist and have been at the same hospital 40 years. Longer tenure out of the 800 doctors on the staff. I have had 11 porsches,-started with a 912, 3 turbos. My favorite was the first wide body targa and the 96 TT. i have had 2 tips and got ride both. The shortest time was the Boxster. I had the first delevery that came out. A BMW came next to me and blew me away. i sold the car the next week for what i paid.

36.
Only manuals.
The cluch on the Turbo is the easiest/softest pedal I have ever driven...even easier than the Japanese cars...I am in traffic all the time and it's a piece of cake. I have a bad back and it's still fine whereas my 996 killed my back and hip all the time.

I'm 45 (to be 46 next month) and have only owned manuals for sports cars, including my 997 4S. Its not a daily driver, so the stick is what I find most enjoyable. If it was an every day driver, given NY traffic, I would probably have gotten the tip. But, I don't think its a question of driver age.
