Bose Sound Package a must?

Hey guys, first post in the 997 section - My lease on the CayenneS ends in April, and Im hoping to soon join the 997 family.

Heres my questions, there is a guards red C2 Cab I have an eye on, however the car only has 1 significant option and that is the Bi-Xenons. The other options I would ideally want would be the Bose package and the Navigation. I was spoiled with the nice Bose package in the Cayenne, but I think I can live without it. Are there any must have options?

Does the 2007 carrera come standard with keyless entry?

if it sounds as good as it does in a coupe then i think it's worth it (not suggesting that it's the answer with the top down).

i personally think the stock unit sound is quite poor.

Bose is a must - there are a ton of 997s out there - look until you find the right combo.

is there anyway I can have the speakers upgraded only by an aftermarket shop? or would they need to replace the whole system and re-wire?

Everyone has different opinion. Best is to listen to both for 15 min each and judge yourself. If you enjoy music while driving, you'll most likely want to have the best sound from the factory and that is Bose. While Bose is not audiophile by any means, it is pretty good IMO.

My other concern is that this car only has 1 option. If you are planning to resell it later, it might be hard to move. Upgrading aftermarket with better than Bose component will be into thousands done by a pro shop as rewriring is required. All 997 use digital bus called MOST so all the audio electronics and most wiring will need to be redone. In the end, Bose does offer the best factory look with good sound.

I would pass on this unless you are certain there isn't any other car that fits the criteria. I enjoy the Bose a lot in my 996 cab and I have heard HIFI in 996 (similar to 997). There is no comparison IMO.

if you truly need and can actually tell the difference for good sound, get a car without bose and upgrade the sound through the aftermarket
definitely better - costs less for the same crap with a better head unit or for a bit more cash will blow the bose setup away
i've got the bose setupup and its one of the options i regret having ordered the way i ordered my car
and p.s. the CDR24 unit and the CD changer are both trash too, you need PCM to play mp3's and a dension ipod adapter disables the cd changer
I am SO glad I am not the audiophile you are... I would be pissed off every time I heard a "substandard" sound system. I think for most folks, the Bose is top-notch.

thanks for all the help guys.

Damn this guards red cab is killing me man, it looks sooo sexy, and I can get a killer deal on it, buts its missing the Bose and Navigation options. Im going to lease it btw.

If you guys convince me to get the Bose and find another cab, you might cost me over $150 a month

Anyone know where I can find high res pictures of a guards red cab?

A loud exhaust system and a cold air intake kit will negate the need for a stereo anyway!!
