Removing the Carrera S badge

Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the Carrera S badge on the back of my 911?

Slide dental floss under it while you use a hair dryer to warm the adhesive. You will probably need to use some goo-gone to remove the adhesive that is left after you remove the badge. Just make sure you wash the area when you are done and apply a coat of wax or polish.

as long as you take your time and use a slow "sawing" motion it should be ok. I debadge all my cars using dental floss and yeah some break...but slow and deliberate and it easy.

Just curious, why do you want to take off the Carrera badge?

1) Clean look
2) People ask "what is it"
3) Easier to wax
4) You can always put one back on

I had mine removed because the 'S' kept falling off.

Dental floss, and some liquid "bug & tar" remover worked wonders for me! Waxing removes the left over "crud" and such, but does make it hard to put on a replacement sticker/emblem. A little isopropyl alcohol fixes that.

I always get my cars from the factory without the badge, but when I didn't have that option, I pre-moistened with alcohol, used fishing line, and then the alcohol again. I tried to avoid goo-gone or goof off because I was concerned about possible damage to the clear coat (mineral spirit content). In both of my past purchases, the dealer gave me a badge in case I ever wanted it.

As to why debadge, why would I want that script on the back of my car? It catches dirt and debris, is hard to wash, is a repository for wax build up, etc. Why would I care that the guy driving behind me (probably way behind) knows if I have a Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, or Carrera 4S? It's obviously a porsche - heck it even says so in the back window

The people that I am interested in talking about my car will either know or will ask. For example "Nice car, I see by the brakes it's an S - any mods???" I don't think there would ever be a conversation that goes "I see from your badge it's an S - care to talk about it?"

Ron

From the pics, it does look good without the badge. Clean as you mentioned.

You've got me thinking!!!!

I ordered a new badge that says "Club Coupe." It is supposed to be in the same script and of the same quality and color (options) as the original.

Now I'm curious... A badge came on your car and you want to take it off to put a different badge not from Porsche on?

I do think it looks cleaner and any real enthusiast will know it's an S by the exhaust and brakes.
