PCM Overheating?

On a recent trip in my 997s cab from San jose Ca to LA (350 miles) my pcm stopped playing cds for some reason. It would not restart until I took a 20 minute rest stop. The only thing i figured it could be was the the unit actually overheating. Anybody else have a similar problem like that?

There was a PCM glitch fix that the service departments received, but it mainly had to do w/ playing mp3's and not recognizing the format. I forgot the campaign number, but a few cars were affected and you had to ask your service guy to look it up (as opposed to them mailing out recall notices like the exhaust tip replacements).

Never had a problem, yet knock on wood... but I notice that after an hour or so of playing .mp3's while on a road trip the CD is really hot when ejected!

But then again this happens with my 3-series bmw and my wifes volvo, granted not mp3 just standard audio cd's but still hot.

I usually don't come on this forum, but saw the post and thought I'd comment.

When I had my Cayenne, the same thing happened to it on a long drive. I had to turn it off for a while and then turn it back on again. When I took it to the dealer, they didn't know what I was talking about, and since it couldn't be replicated, well, you know what happens then.

At any rate, shortly after that I sold the Cayenne. Sorry, don't have a solution for you, but I think Porsche PCM does have an issue from time to time.

my PCM acted up, they were unable to replicate it. However, they were nice enough to replace it. No issue since then.
