How often do you change oil
#16
So what you are saying, if I am understanding correctly, is that following Porsche's recommended oil change/service will be fine? Obviously not going to hold you to your recommendation.
Hmmm... I guess that nice sound from the Evo Intake is too good to be true

Every year with synthetic. Of course, I only drive 3500 miles a year....

I did my first oil change at ~3000 miles. There are a lot of small metal particles being shaved off a new engine ,which,in the oil become a great polishing compound . Lol
It's also the mayor reason why I believe in driving it easy for the first 1 to 2k miles . I don't believe there is a single engine manufacturer in the world that recommends going flat out as soon as you start the engine for the first time. And that goes for the transmission as well .
I change my oil every 5k miles (Mobil 1 0-W40 ) but minimum once a year
( I don't use mine as a daily driver )
I also change the brake fluid every year and the cooling fluid every two years.

There are very good reasons why these filters should not be used in cold weather or when it's moist outside.
They are fine for an afternoon at the track and you want that extra 2-3 hp but not for a daily driver .
If you like it just because of the sound, put a plug into the Helmholtz resonator outlet hose .That will disable the resonator effect and your car will sound the same , with absolutely no ill side effects( i.e. CE lights etc.)

I when to the dealer ask "when should I change my oil", "they told me I don't need to change the oil till 20,000 miles". I like all you guys change my every 5K, I don't care wat the dealer told me. You know what everytime I change the oil, I notice the different on my engine.

why not other then cost
I started this thread for the info. I believe there was one response indicating the car runs better with old oil. This does not make sense to me. If there are no contradindications I can't see how you can only help the engine with clean oil. I suppose there is a lubrication factor and why in the world would dirty oil do better then clean oil. I will for the the 3-5000 mile change.
