No - specs call for 0w-40 - important for proper operation of variocam.

You can use 0w40 and most recently they have called for 5w40.

Not even close. Don't do it. Read the manual.

Nope, wrong viscosity. Stick with the 0w40 Mobil 1.

They have called for 5W40 and 15W50 long before they ever did 0W40. Since many people get ALL there Porsche info from forums like this and have been told that 0W40 is the ONLY oil approved by Porsche, this false info has become gospel. Mobil 0W40 is only 1 of dozens of other oils that are approved. IMO, 0W40 shouldn't even be on the list.

Forums have great info but I usually confim improtant stuff with what I read from "official" sources. My owner's manual says in temps above minus 13F that only approved Porsche oils should be used with viscosities of 0W40, 5W40 or 5W50. I choose to continue to use what was in the crankcase when the car arrived. Others may like a different viscosity. I have't had any problems with 0W40.
