I tried to put some "quality" on my PSE mufflers by shining them up, but could not even get close to the fabled Fabspeed " Mirror finish " .Oh well .
I did succeed with polishing the PSE tips to a respectable level though .
But even with this meager effort, I can already "feel" a difference.
Improved torque throughout the entire operating range , definitely smoother shifting , more pull over 4000 rpm and my gas consumption went from an average of 18.3 to 26.8 mpg with only 67 octane fuel.
(probably due to the lower Aerodynamic drag coefficient ) Lol

I found after I lost 20Lbs to make up for the extra weight I extended the range to 20 K on my rear tires!
My car's finish also stays much cleaner. !!!!!!!!!!
OTOH maybe it's the Jersey water!!

I was at the Fabspeed Charity event not too long ago and Jeremy and Jay both REALLY know their stuff...
As for the power claims...MOST companies claim similar amounts or so hp for a headers back system...whats the problem with FABSPEEDS claim? There is definitely hp to be picked up by the exhuast btw, its just not generally able to be "felt" until higher rpms and at that time most are more worried about shifting than feeling the car. I can tell you when I changed my exhaust on my turbo, it made a big difference (ok...more than an NA car but...).
In regards to the mirror finish...after seeing them in person...I would absolutely say that they have one of the most polished surfaces I have seen on an exhaust short of a kreissieg on a 360 modena...and the sound is really great...REALLY deep and throaty...
That being said...I LOVE LOVE LOVE the PSE exhuast...but only as a factory option...not something to put on aftermarket IMHO...and the warrenty...the magnussen-moss act says that you are not forced to replace your (insert part here) with OEM equipment and it must be proven that the part you installed is what caused the/a problem you are having with your car in order for PCNA to not warrenty it...

To clear up some possible confusion about "50 State Street Legal" claims made by some exhaust manufacturers regarding aftermarket cats for the 997 line.
All aftermarket catalytic convertors for the 997 are illegal in California if the car is still within the warranty period.
Actually, for any vehicle 2006 or newer, replacement of the OEM catalyst is not allowed for vehicles that are still within their warranty period.
Furthermore, there must be an "Exemption Number" available through the California Air Resource Board (CARB) for any catalytic convertor to be considered street legal in California for any vehicle. You can find this information here http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/afterm...ces/amquery.php
If you live in California please be very careful regarding "50 state street legal" claims regarding catalytic convertors.
I would hate to see 997 owners left with a vehicle that is not street legal. At the very least, re-purchasing the stock exhaust setup is a costly endeavor not to mention the hassle.
Here is a link to all CARB exempt catalytic convertors.
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/afterm...ermktdevice.php
As you can see, there is nothing CARB exempt that is newer than 2004 and there is nothing in any year for Porsche.
Other states are beginning to adopt CARB's laws. As you know emissions has become a major political topic and there are elctions coming up. I would expect things to get more strict regardless you live.
The bottom line is this. KEEP YOUR STOCK EXHAUST PARTS SO YOU CAN RETURN THE CAR TO STOCK IF NEED BE!!!!
Obviously it's up to you if you want to use aftermarket cats and it's also up to you if you have any interest in understanding the laws before you make your decision.
Also, please remember that there are state laws and there are federal laws. If the EPA decides to enforce their current emissions laws then this whole aftermarket catalyst thing is over. If you can't return to the OE catalyst you will not be able to register your Porsche for street use.
In my opinion (and it's just my opinion), there's no reason to use aftermarket cats as they are just as illegal as eliminating the cats alltogether. Unfortunately, you will have to swap your performance system out and replace it with the OE exhaust when it comes time for street use and smog tests.

I agree with your analysis of Jersey water.
It definitely is the " world best " for washing the car.
Just the right amount of detergent content to clean, yet gentle on the paint .Also, no need to towel dry the car .
It dries to a " mirror " finish in the sun.

Along with all the other BS they claim, I'm not surprised that you believe their exhaust will improve the water quality in N.J. as well .
After you install the mufflers, be sure to apply for the Al Gore " Green Earth " tax rebate . Lol

Just another pleased Fabspeed customer. Within a month of taking delivery of my 2007 Carrera S, I had Fabspeed maxflow mufflers installed. I was happy to be rid of the stock mufflers (told the dealer to junk them).

Sounds like JCS is pissed he spent too much on the PSEs Maybe if fabspeed had an on off switch he would be happier. : ) j/k relax Every single fabspeed product I have ever used or sold I have been happy with. As far as the power claims a lot of that stuff is dyno tested at Powertech in Rockaway, NEW JERSEY. I used to work there and those guys/dyno is totally legit. No I havent checked the new Fabspeed stuff myself but i know the old 996 stuff worked just fine. Im sure with the right tuning the claims are very close to those numbers. Ive seen it in the past.

Actually, my next one will have the PSE installed at the factory.
I would buy it again tomorrow, thank you.
And I have never seen a thread where someone took off his PSE and replaced it with Fabspeed's , because they had resonance problems.
As far as performance gains from a muffler go, well, that subject has been beaten to death.
Let's just say that the Fabspeed muffler, header etc. gain claims are on par with their ridiculous BS about getting TWENTY PERCENT more airflow into a NA engine merely by replacing the ~ 6" long black factory rubber air intake hose with their red one .
Was that " tested " in Rockaway N.J. as well ?
