Look at the engine coponents. I found some x51 parts in the intake area. Look at the part numbers I believe they have x-51 at the end. Didn't find a complete list but I didn't look that hard.

Dave,

Are you happy with your exhaust set up? Noise outside and inside(drone), performance, etc.

I have been seriousily considering doing the exact same combination.

The only mod I have made so far is the plenum and I very happy with the change.

Hey Dave...so far I only installed the AWE mufflers, the headers are sitting in my closet waiting for my cats to arrive. I will give a full report when everything is installed. As far as noise I found the AWE mufflers with the rest of the OEM exhaust to be quite tame. I am witholding judgement until the headers and cats are on the car. Can't say I feel any increase with the mufflers...definitely didn't slow the car down, but it does sound better. I am considering the plenum during the X51 intake install.

When you say intake install, I am assuming just the air box. According to the parts diagram the X-51 Intake parts are all different. I have thought about doing the airbox, I like OEM parts.

FYI- Greg at RSS said they were devloping a bigger Throttle body to work with their plenum. Combining their products with a X-51 air box would probably be as good or better than the whole x-51 intake. Strictly in my SWAG opinion though.

Let me know the results when you get the cats and headers installed.

You can mate the X51 airbox to the stock throttle body but the intake tube for the X51 is larger and you will have to seal it somehow, there will be a restriction though. The answer is using the X51 throttle body, then the question becomes does the X51 throttle body mate to the OEM intake manifolds. If no it could probably easily modified to do it with a grinding tool if the opening is of a smaller diamater..these are the questions I have to have answered. The parts costs for all of this is pretty reasonable actually, only bummer and what I don't know is do you have to drop the engine to install intake manifolds..from my understanding and from the PET catalog the cams are the same and the heads are production heads with a port job..no change in valve size either. I saw no differnent part #'s for the valves or cams lableled X51.

Modifying the top deck for the other inlet tube seems a perfect job for my dremel..as I understand this is what the tech's do as well. They don't have a part # listed for the top deck.

I plan on keeping this car for the long run...and if I can swing it I'm going with a LSD and you have to drop the engine to do this..this would be the time to do the intake and such...

I will give a full and completely honest evaluation of my exhaust...I want to do a baseline dyno run with just the mufflers..unfortunately I put these on before a preliminary dyno run but oh well.

Dave
