There is no break in period. Drive it like you stole it and he should be fine.

Aloha

It's one of the first topics in the manual.

You should vary the engine speed for the first 1,000 miles and you should be fine. I have followed the break in procedure for 2k miles in 2-996's and 2- 997's and have never had any problems, read RMS.

I recomend your friend to drive below 4K rpm....for 600 miles or 1000 km...
not for the engine...for the brakes..discs...pads...and for the clutch...

just my way to break in my cars...

I agree with Paris.. I am still in the break in period.. Try to keep the car under 4.5k RPM for about 2000 miles ( to be on the safer side) ... After that, rip the engine...

Hi !

Thanks to everybody for your advises

To talk about the manual, the problem is that the car has been imported directly from germany and the manual is in german...

see you and thanks again

There are two manuals anyway - US and RoW so the advice will differ... Do a search here and over at RennList for "break in", "run in", and other ways to say "break in period" on the 997 product. There are many different opinions and the one I like is the one written about in Excellence - about going easy for 1k. Enjoy!
