Insurance for street vehicle at DE event
I am trying to find anyone's experience who has participated in a drivers education PCA event ( using thier own vehicle).
I am wondering which, if any, insurers cover these events.
thanks in advance.

Although some reportedly won't cover any accident that occurs on-track, regardless of the situation, some will cover so long as they are "education" events. That means no racing, no timed laps. You can search Rennlist for several threads that mention specific providers.

As others have said, read your policy for exclusions. My policy does not exclude Drivers Education, but some exclude any activity happening on a race track. There are also supplemental insurance companies that cover just DEs, though they are expensive. Least expensive way to go if your policy excludes DEs, switch to a company that doesn't (ie: Might cost you $100 more for the premium vs. a couple thousand for a DE policy). Do a search over at RennList and you'll find many threads on this.

Policies are generally state-specific. Check your policy for any exclusion and if it exists, I suggest calling an insurance broker or agent and ask them for a sample policy with exclusions. Depending on your relationship with the broker, tell them what you're doing (DE and not racing), and have them search for the best policy. (Needless to say, while looking at your policy, everyone should make sure their liability limits and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage limits are sufficient - we can do a whole other thread on that.)

as another poster said, this is a state specific issue and then within a state (if permitted by law) may vary by insurer. For example in Texas there's a standard automobile policy that all carriers must use, and we have no exclusion prohibiting on-track use. So we're covered here for any carrier.
In other states, the exclusions are different, so you need to talk to agents in your state to see the policy exclusions, and dont take what the agent says as gospel unless he shows you the supporting policy provision. You'd be amazed at how frequently agents say one thing, then check the policy to see they're full of it.
