Carrera S "tip"

A friend of mine is thinking about getting his wife a Carrera S, with a tip tranny. I'm wondering how much (ballpark) dealers are coming down from sticker? (In Southern Cal) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the tip transmission actually costs more than the 6 speed so dealers are not discounting just because it is a tip. Overall the discounts on all 997s seems to be around 4-7%.

Now get ready for the boy racers on here to tell you how much faster a 6 speed is over a tip....the little secret is it's not!

I just bought 5.5 mos. ago, the best I could conjur up was 1-2% off of MSRP. I ended up buying out of state...there is a bunch of threads on this. I would use the search function.

I got 6% off list, free install on the Fabspeed muffler and a free clear bra but I bought my car in August of 06 at the end of the model year so that might help too. Plus my dealer seems to be a little agressive in sell through cars and easy to work with.

at the end of the day, it's still a chicktronic

i just don't find the tip fun to drive. it's about as exciting as manully shifting my automatic grand cherokee when porsche finally catches up with everyone else and does a true F1 style tranny, I'll reconsider.

I can probably get your friend a very good deal, but he'd have to purchase from a porsche dealer in FL. pm if you're interested.

Ahhh you're funny! I am not saying it's as fun as a 6 speed cuz it's not and I totally agree with you that Porsche needs to catch up and put out a true F1 Ferrari style tranny. But you also know why I have to drive Tip...so I just make the most of my situation.
