Exhaust rattling - normal?

I've had the AWE mufflers on the car for a couple of months...Ever since they were installed, the exhaust will make a rattling sound at idle for while when starting the car cold... Also, today the car backfired for the first time...Just curious if this rattling sound is something I should have checked or if this is nothing to be concerned about..

Your help is appreciated..

when i had my awe installed the support brackets for the rear bumper were touching the cans and caused a rattle. the muffler shop heated the brackets and bent them a little for clearance.. no rattle since then. just make sure thats whats happening to yours. it might be somthing else.

The support bracket can rub on the muffler as the above post states..however you don't have to heat it as the metal of the bracket is quite pliable. Regarding the backfire, if its just a little pop that's normal. If it's a loud pop to the point it's like a gunshot that isn't right. This is quite normal with the whole setup...I love the way it pops...

Got a quote at Suncoast for $979.00 (dont remember the exact amount) this included the airbox, throttle body and all other related items to the airbox. It does not include the intake manifolds or the heads. The airbox and throttle body will bolt up to the non X51 intake manifolds and the throttle body will bolt up to the non x51 plenum. I have put this off for now as I may just do the VFlow as it is easily returned to stock. With the X51 it would be hard to return it to stock after you made another hole in the lower deck to accomodate the other intake snorkel.

Very true, most systems will have a distinct "pop" or burble, especially during warm-up, but the difference between that and a back-fire is pretty clear. If you've expericence the latter, get it checked out asap.

TBH, dont have a clue what the gains will be. From what I have heard the car did feel more responsive and have better midrange and top end. Then again I heard the same thing with the VFlow intake. The throttle body wont work as the intake tube from the VFlow wont mate up properly without the intake tube from the X51 ie: larger.
