My salesman never mentioned anything about this when I got the car...I only found out about it when I hit a brick that fell off the back of a truck in front of me and killed a front rim/tire. I flatbeaded it to the closest dealer for replacement ($1500 ouch!) and was told about this type of insurance that my dealer should have offered me

Living in NY, this insurance is highly recommended - I've had countless blown tires from the potholes in this area over the years.
you have to talk to your dealer.. mine told me that they just got it about a week ago.. i am sure if u just got the car a few months ago he would let it slide.. and give you the policy.. mine cost $595..
good luck with it..

I am about to buy new street tires for my 997S. Tire Rack offers a Road Hazzard plan for the Bridgestone RE050A Porsche tires I will be buying for $130 for all 4 tires with a $399 cap per tire. I am horrible at figuring out if these type of deals are worth it. What you you all think?

Okay, I just received the checks for my three tires (one check for two tires, second check for one of the new tires which blew a week after I had them replaced). They only matched up to the tirerack price + taxes + labour. Anyways, that being said, I'm already $1500 ahead. Pretty easy to file claim, just call in, email them receipts, photos if you have, etc.

Obtained it when I got the car. It's a ten year program for me. They often hide behind a technicality when the tire shop fails to call in advance for authorization. They're a big firm--"Easy Care". I have used it already on nails in tires.

wish I did ... cut a tire yesterday

Out putting some break-in miles on my new 07 997S and clipped a piece of rock. 400 kms from Vancouver, out of cell phone range. Got a ride to a small town, called Porsche Roadside Assistance and they flat bedded the car back to Vancouver. That was probabaly an $800 tow job, but I'll be on the hook for the tire.

FWIW ... tire sidewall was sliced open like it had a scalpel used on it. One sharp rock!
