There are plenty of guys that track them. Hadn't heard any complaints yet. My car has spent plenty of time on the dyno and heat soak wasn't really an issue. It would drop a few HP here and there the longer we ran it, but nothing signficant. The liquid to air intercooler with the 3rd radiator up front really keeps things cool. I would guess much more so than rear mounted air to air intercoolers. Even after hard runs the intercooler never gets so hot that you can't touch it.

Dog, a dyno run, even a few of them is NOTHING compared to 4-35 minute track sessions at Sebring in 97degree weather. My oil temp was over 250 and my exhaust tips turned brown and blue. I have the 3rd radiator up front too.

Agree, been there done that with a couple of past cars. Now I know it's better to just go all the way to forced induction and not waste my money on minor bolt on mods that only give subjective performance gains and little objective results.

PS- Once read that a good rule of thumb is 10% gain "just" starts to give noticeable results.

I don't know if one is better than the other. I do know that it was around $20 grand plus to do a turbo setup on a 3.6 liter 996.

I run an evo sc and do 4-35 track session, my temp was steady an end of "0" of the 180 mark all day. 90+ deg weather. The intercoolor (liquid to air via center third radiator) is oversized as well as the SC. The SC is designed for 20 psi boost and we are running it at 6 psi max. I could understand why people want to run as NA because of the predictablility of the car but the vortec SC keeps that NA character... its a very fun car to drive... BTW my tips are brown and blue as well...
But turbo, NA, SC setups arent all bullet proof... sh*t happens on the track or on the street.

wow thats a little steep i'll just wait for 998 turbo (flat 8 hopefully), my grandpa is a total hot rod builder and said superchargers are great for huge h.p. returns + power but engine life is much much shorter, oh well....

i think it really depends on the type of supercharger you're running. the centrifugal blowers act very much like a turbo, where they boost is rpm dependent. there are other types that build the same amount of boost at 2K rpm as they do at 7K rpm. i could see where that would be harder on the motor. how bad can they be if RUF is doing it?

only on the engine, and then they still have to prove that it was the result of the supercharger. i really wouldn't worry about it. there are tons of these cars running around now and none of the engines that i know of have gone boom yet (knock on wood)

the evo setup is very conservative. i like the TPC kit, but i would be much more worried about badness happening with that kit.

You will see approx 30to 35 hp gains from all these mods. Doesnt matter which way you slice it.

A lot of it will be depend on fuel quality and the conditions you are in.
Better fuel will yield better power......

We have tried all these mods in one configuration or another.

I dont know of how accurate my butt dyno is but I highly doubt you will really feel that much of a difference in out right performance. Less than 10% is very difficult to feel in terms of power.

You will notice better throttle response, better mid range and the area under the curve to be broader..

Just my .02 cents.
