I noticed the same thing with mine. It dosen't happen everytime. I think it does it once in awhile if you haven't checked it in a long time, just to make sure you're doing it ever so often. I may be wrong, its just what I've noticed.

"Mine does it too, now that you say it." Did I get it right? This one took me a while.

Maybe it has something to do with the oil level measurment function during refueling. The owner's manual says "The oil level is automatcially measured during refueling" and then it goes on to explain the preconditions, etc. Could be that you're interrupting the "automatic" process although I never had this happen. See what the manual says on page 119 of the 2006 manual.

I think I just found the reason.... I only noticed it once when I was in a hurry and put 5 dollars in..... Maybe if yoyu don't pump a full tank it interupts the oil checking process? Just a theory

Read page 119 of your owners manual. If the engine is at operating temperature and then turned off for between 5 and 15 minutes, when the ignition is turned back on engine oil level will automatically be displayed.

Make sure you twist the cap closed 3 times. I even bought a new cap with a larger gasket. I disconnected the battery to clear the codes. It hasn't happened since.
