Exclamation 997 S Oil Consumption Q and poll

I got my 05 997S with 23,000 miles and my oil incicator showed the blinking bar below the minimum at 30,000 this sunday while i was coming back from pebble/concorso
I found out that the difference between the low point and the high pint on the bars between the 2 marks in 1.2 quarts, so roughly .4 quarts a bar.

what are other people's consumptions once break-in is passed?

marc

marc: 23,000-30,000 (4 months) needed a quart

That's not unusual. I just rolled 10k miles last week and I believe I have put in a grand total of 3 quarts.

yeah. i was pretty careful. i was getting consistent read during the trip up and at cold-fillup so i'm pretty sure it's accurate.
The hardest was to figure out which oil to use since it's not noted anywhere in mnaual or on car....
Had to call my wife and do an online search since it was sunday!

0W-40. i now have a spare can ready!

My car has 4k miles on it so it is still somewhat going through a full ring seat. The first 800 miles I consumed .5 litre of oil, at 2k miles I had to add an additional .5 litre. Now at 4k miles I had to add another .5 litre....So 1.5 litres in 4k miles..not bad I guess. I did follow break-in...I am thinking by 6k miles I should have a pretty good ring seat.

My car hardly uses any oil. I have 10k miles and 10 tracks days and a auotX. I changed my oil at 7k miles with only 1 bar down and 5 tracks days. I have gotten more agressive with my track driving and have only burned 1 bar...almost. Basically in 10,500+ miles I have burned 1/2 a quart.

I hardly burn any oil when driving it on the road, a few hard track days and I am down a bar.
