997 Supercharger ? Why Not Tpc
Just wondering if anybody on here has the TPC Supercharger kit ?
Has anybody compared the performance differnces between the TPC kit and the EVO kit .
It seems that the TPC kit comes w/ a much more elaborate tuning software. Also wondering what you paid for the install of the supercharger.
Thanks,

I've been in both and own an EVO car. The kits are apples and oranges.
Roots blower vs. centrifugal. Piggy back tuning vs. ECU remapping. 7th injector vs 6 larger injectors. Complete change in the powerband vs maintaining factory feel.
The TPC is faster. I'm sure of it. That being said, it's noisy and a much more crude kit. Not to mention there is no dealer support network for the TPC's.
The TPC kit also involves much more labor. 15 hours vs 20 plus for the TPC. I will say that the intake filter element is much easier to get at on the TPC.
Your call. After weighing the options, the EVO seems a better option. If TPC upgraded their tuning and fuel delivery, it would have been a much tougher decision. I just don't like that 7th injector idea. That's fine for a blown suburban, but not for a 100K porsche.
Why not just get the RUF kit? You were kind of oohing and ahhing over it on that 997 in another thread. It's a steal at $25K

Well i was talking to DAN at VVID and reading a bit on the tpc website about how their piggyback works and it seemed to be better at least i thought . Also the TPC kit came very highly recomended by DAN at VIVID RACING .He said the install on either kit is about the same .

He apparently had some falling out with EVO from what I was told and no longer carries their products. That is just a rumor though. I can neither confirm nor deny if that's true.
Since he can't carry the EVO line, what do you expect him to say about the TPC vs EVO products?
Let me put it in these terms as far as the electronics. Would you rather your factory ECU flashed with new programming, maintaining all the factory safeguards and upgraded parameters to maintain your AF and EGT's, or would you rather attach a piggy back ECU that tricks your stock ECU and runs the show?
Not to mention the whole 7th injector thing. EVO replaces all your injectors with larger injectors and remaps the ECU accordingly. TPC uses a 7th injector to dump fuel at WOT and spread it out over the other 6 injectors. I'm not a mechanic, but I don't see how it could possibly spread that fuel evenly over 6 injectors. From what I was told the inner injectors get slightly more fuel than the outer injectors. It will keep your car from detonating, but is that really how you want to go?
He is wrong on the labor. The TPC is much more involved. TPC will tell you that themselves.

If you want some more reliable HP, just get an EVO kit. There's tons of them out there and they're not that expensive.

Earlier i read that evo has sold over 100 sc kits , just wondering how many of those are actually 997 kits ? From what i was told that number represents total kits 996 and 997 .I am sure they are mostly on 996's . I would love to get the ruf kit but $25 k is a but much if you can get similarf performance for $11000

i agree with you on the ruf kit. very spensive. however, if money was no object then why not? then again, if that was the case i would just buy a turbo. i think the ruf kit is very nice, but a little over engineered. the price is what puts most people off. if it was closer to evo, they would probably sell a million of them. but it's not, and that's why where is only one ruf kit on here that i know of (jbrennan) and probably at least 30 or so EVO kits. i do know of one TPC kit on here (roverron) and he is, or at least was, very happy with it. haven't heard from him in a while.

after I weighed all my options it was clear that Evo was the way to go,I really thought about the ruf but the problem was and is distance I'm in ny and it would have been to long a prosess to get it done.having said that I'm glad I went with evo I'm very happy really feels nice.as for tpc I just don't know enough people that have them and can give positive feed back ....not to say that I have heard anything bad either.
