Edit--I just went to the Fabspeed website and that is exactly what mine sound like so I guess mine are great!

Problem is when yoou compare what mine sound like and what Gundo's mod sound like there is really no comparison!--Great idea and job on it man

porschenut, i did the same thing so my 997 mufflers but it didnt do much.
i think this is much closer to the true bypass pipes.

wizo, trust me you are never gonna get exactly what you want, always gonna be alittle too quiet with just the mufflers, and too loud with the bypass pipes.
the complete system with headers and cats will give you a great sound though...
i am gonna install my fabspeed mufflers soon, so i hope they are louder than i think but i think i will be disappointed like you, the tips are amazing though.
you might wanna try the ebay headers too, for 100-200 bucks they will complete your exhaust system.
another thing, it is really hard to compare video clips so you cant really tell if gundo's are much louder than yours.

I installed the Fabspeed sport cats yesterday (also have Suncoast headers and Fabspeed exhaust) and the sound is incredible. Big difference when you add the sport cats. Highly recommend.

It is quite a bit louder but not over the top to the point where it will tick my neighbors off when driving down the street. More of a race car sound.

i have headers, exhaust, intake, and the plenum. i tried the cat by pass pipes. they were horribly loud. too much for me, although some like'em. haven't heard a 996 with high flow cats yet. not sure if it would be too much. the car got way louder with the headers and the pitch went way up.

Everyone has a different tolerance for noise. After installing the high flow cats I know that the cat bypass or muffler bypass would be too much for my taste. With the high flow cats, when I have the windows, up I really don't notice it that much. I can carry on a normal conversation in the car and it doen't impact listening to music or the radio negatively. When I added headers (months after the exhaust) the car got a little louder but the most notable difference was with the quality of the sound (throatier). The increase in volume was more when adding the high flow cats than the headers.

I have the suncoast headers too. My car got much higher pitched and raspy. Very different from what you're describing. Everything is relative I suppose.

I think a lot of people take the cats sound dampening properties for granted. They do more for sound suppression than the mufflers for sure. My car was ridiculously loud with the cat bypasses and mufflers in place. I went right back to the stock cats. I may have to upgrade to high flows at some point, I just don't want my car to get too much louder than it is as it's borderline obnoxious at this point with the stock cats, cargraphic mufflers, and the suncoast headers.

as it's borderline obnoxious at this point
That's the way I love it...when I get my muffler bypass with the headers and highflow cats I'll make a video and youtube it...Probably won't do it justice...

Sounds like the biggest difference (no pun intended) are the characteristics of the Cargraphic mufflers. They must be louder than my FabSpeed.

Be careful what you wish for.... If you really want to be obnoxious just bypass the cats too. More or less straight pipes.

Personally I think my car sounded best when it was just CG mufflers.

Not really. I've heard both. The cargraphic sounds like the PSE, just louder. As far as decibels, I would guess the CG and Fabs are about the same. Tonally, the Fabs are probably a little deeper. The headers, although dyno proven by myself, did add a sort of Honda civic rasp to it. It's cool, but like I said, it sounded better with just the mufflers.

That would probably be to far for me...barely. Not to mention you have to deal with the CEL.

They have some sort of resister they can put on the 02 sensors now to deal with the CEL. Man up and do it. I don't want to hear excuses
