NAV-TV Bluetooth Adapter for 997
#166
It's been a couple of weeks now since I installed the Nav-TV Tooki unit (where did they get that name...) and I have to say that I am still VERY pleased with it. It provides almost full functionality of the PCM's telephone features like keypad dialing, answer/hangup button and address book (mostly) - features that would have been totally useless unless I went the very expensive porsche 666 route. But the porsche option requiring a second phone line and SIM card didn't make sense in my situation. The tooki works with my iphone perfectly and i can switch phones if I want to and pair it up without worrying about getting a second SIM card.
Geez, it's almost like having, dare I say it, the bluetooth system in the new Ford Focus... Porsche: you just are so far behind the times when it comes to electronics
bob "no affiliation to Nav-tv" ft/worth

Bob, do you have more than one phone number associated with your iPhone contacts? If so, does the Tooki only transfer one of those numbers per contact? I also have an iPhone, and I only get the one number per contact. I also only get the first 255 contacts transferred.

It looks like just the one number per contact as best I can remember. I haven't played around with that part too much, plus 90% of my contacts have only one number anyway.
Folks with a lot of contacts/multiple numbers might have to find a work-around. I have less than 100 contacts in the phone's address book so it's great for me - or the converse...I have no friends
The first couple of entries as seen on the PCM look like a foreign language???

My workaround for the multiple phone numbers for one contact was to add contacts for the numbers that didn't show up and to assign a first name of "A" to my most frequently called contacts to get them to show up near the top of the Phonebook screen.

i notice a bug with my tooki when josh paired his verizon blackberry pearl to my unit . It would only work as a hands free kit. Cannot dial from the PCM. I guess verizon crippled a few of the bluetooth profiles on their phones. His phone book didn't transfer over as well. Sucks and it caused the tooki to go into a restart loop on my PCM. Only way to fix it was hit the hang up button on the pcm and everything is back to normal.

Thanks for lettng me try to pair my Verizon BB Pearl...
Scuzy - beautiful 997, congrats again.
I hope that Nav-TV responds to my inquiry re compatibility......I want a Tooki but it does not want me, at least in the short term...........
This is what I posted on NAV-TV forum, no response thus far:
I would like to purchase a Tooki for my 997, but have been hesitant. To confirm compatability, I recently tried my Verizon BB Pearl 8130 with a recently purchased Tooki installed in a friends 997. We disconnected his AT&T BB and synced my Verizon BB.
The BB found Tooki as an "audio device" but would not transfer phonebook. Seemed to only work as a simple through the PCM/stero BT unit.
I would love to purchase a Tookie to use with my Verizon BB Pearl 8130 if I knew it would work as a full featured BT solution as advertised. There are other much less expensive integrators for BT through stereo apps.
I called and left a message yesterday about compatability, and still await return call or e-mail via this forum.

I just bought my 06' 997 4S about 5 months ago and it had the NavTv i-pod adapter in it...........doesn't work very well as it wont recognize my i-pod most of the time. Can't figure why.
I have a iphone and would like to get the new unit (sat, ipod, bluetooth)
Is it still not x-fering the address book when you have multiple #'s for each contact? Anyone know a dealer in Scottsdale, Az? Thanks for any help!!!!

The Nav-TV Sirius Satellite Radio and iPod adapter still require swapping out the entire unit with Nav-TV to get the latest firmware, but the Tooki can be upgraded with a Bluetooth-enabled Windows laptop. The latest firmware is downloadable from Nav-TV's website and is dated 11-23-07.
I just also replaced my Nav-TV Sirius Satellite unit (SIRPOR2) with one with firmware date 11-29-07. It seems to have cured the occasional blank left hand display panel on the PCM that would randomly occur on startup.
I have not had any issues with my Nav-TV iPod adapter that was installed in late August 07.

Looks like Nav-TV has a new firmware update from 1/3/08 for those who have the BT phone unit. It includes an excel file with compatible phones and the features that work with each phone... pretty nifty.
