Wide Body GTO, what do you guys think?

I may be looking to "invest" in the molds for this kit. It's kind of pricey but I wanted to get some opinions. It's been out for about 2 years but hasn't sold because the company selling it charges 6K for the kit. I think I can produce it and make a profit for about 4K. What do you guys think?

The only thing really turning me away, is the labor that's involved, it is VERY extensive.

I personally love the way the wide body kit looks. W2W does some sick stuff. My buddies got a 04 GTO with cam, lt's etc, definitly fun cars.

Hmmmmmm.....depends on how much profit.......I'd hope you're gonna make at least 25%....or more......and there are always initial unexpected costs associated with bringing a new product to market......I'd venture to say you might not realize a profit for the first half dozen sets you sell........how rabid are the owners of these? How big is the aftermarket?
A good idea might be to compare to say......late model mustangs......HUGE aftermarket industry......yet I've NEVER seen a widebody kit on one, hell, never even seen once advertised.
Im sure they are out there.....I'd be curious to call up a couple of suppliers of them......explain your situation and ask how many kits they sold last year.......

I personally think it ruins how the body panels flow on the car. Yeah, you can fit alot of rubber in the back now, but I just don't think it flows with the rest of the body.

If you're looking to build a kit and make a profit, find another car than the GTO. Even at 4k, I'm fairly certain it will be an extremely low volume production.

I thouht it was a hideous kit Jamez, till I saw it in person on the road in SEMA.

W2W has had this kit in the market for about 2 years now, and I think there are only 2-3 cars with it. Given, they charged 16K for the kit and for THEM to install it.

The price is what turned off most people. I "think" I can get a decent profit Chris retailing it for 3.5-4K. It's the 4-6K in labor that is going to turn off a lot of people.

Mustangs don't need a wide body kit because you can fit some SERIOUS rubber underneath them. W/ the GTO the best you can do stock is a 275, this is a car w/ 400 lb ft stock (Stock, you'll laugh, the car comes w/ 235's on the rear).

As I said before, i'm thinking right now. i'm in talks to buy all the molds, etc. I'm just now putting out the costs in my head and on paper to see if it makes sense

I know, I have an 06 TR/R M6 18s for my Primary car... Just trying to give some input from another GTO owner, I just don't think there is much of a market for it in the GTO community, and I think it isn't just the cost of the kit that keeps them from selling.

I think the front looks good but the back is odd looking. I think that front and rear quarter panels more this style would look awesome

A co-worker of mine did a production kit based off this woodward car. It is very pricey as well and wouldn't be something that would be an investment. The guy who owns the molds it now is holding on to it very tightly. That said, The car doesn't look that great in person and from different angles. I've only seen it in black and that may be the reason, but it just iddn't do anything for me.

The only thing I question is the demand from your typical GTO owner. The ones I know are putting the majority of their mod money into the motor.

The Goat styling has grown on me. I'd like to see the rear flare on the kit more sharp where it meets the stock 1/4, instead of bulbous. That front flare is pretty sweet though.

why put more money into the motor when the car can't handle the power stock (meaning tire size wise, most you can do is a 275)

But yea, i'm over it. Not worth the hassle for the little demand there will be
