2009 ZR1 ....Your Thoughts
I am a little disappointed......3400lbs,same basic interior, that tacky *** hood window and only 620hp.I think GM dropped the ball.I think I will keep the C6ZO6 .......I actually think it is better looking....Love to get those brakes and wheels on the Z though!

Yea man they screwed up big time, lot's of hype for what looks like, will be not much of a better performer then a stock Z06.. That's what, 225 lbs more? And just 100 hp and torque and some, hood window is YUCK, big dissapointment!

if you lose the chrome wheels and the stupid clear plastic on the hood its pretty nice.
this is basically a skunk works type project since the ZR1 is essentially a C6 Z06 chassis with some bolt-ons. The engine is pulled straight from the regular C6 they just added the blower and some exotic internals.

they are not through hp certification yet...hence the statements it will be at least 620hp.
a mule put down 663 to wheels this summer.
zr1 3350/620 ~ 5.4
z06 3100/500 ~ 6.2
997gt2 3175/530 ~ 6.0
this zr1 is a built and blown 6.2l v8 engine... tune and pulley away from 800 crank horsepower!

Considering they went from a polymer intake manifold/gas dampers to a supercharger and magnetic ride control dampers, a weight increase was inevitable.
Maybe a composite chassis would negate the weight if money was no object.

I must have missed that, and it STILL weighs so much more with that?!? Anyway the original aluminum couldnt be too much heavier, they were flying off :P

I agree with you guys, the hood is a disaster at best. For this kind if money it should have a real suspension setup, thats fully adjustable. There is no excuse for the increase in weight. If its the ultimate Vette, then it needs to set the standard in every category. The roof is awesome and I like the side vents.
