Usual calculated loss is 12-13%. Which works out to about 668 hp with a 13% loss, still not a bad increase. I'm sure there is still quite a bit more in it.

Based on what? We aren't talking about a Turbo 400 tranny here.
The stock dyno #s I have seen are falling between 560 and 570 at the rear wheels. That puts loss between 11-13%.

there is a lot less loss with the rear mounted tranny the vettes have. 10-13% sounds very accurate.

Which dyno? I haven't seen numbers that high.

Here's a quick list of some search results. I have seen anywhere from 530s to 570s, but more in the upper part of that range it seems.
Bottom line, no matter what the varying numbers are, 17% drivetrain loss on a newer manual tranny is exaggerated.
