I've gotten three negative rep comments from this thread and my input saying the 1999 isn't even to be compared to a 2003 or 2004 SVT Cobra...

cute

Don't let it bother you, same thing happen to me. You could be first on the money with facts that don't lie and if someone doesn't like it, they will be a little kid about it.

Bottom line, the OP asked for opinions and feedback. I gave it. Common issues could arrise from any year, the platforms are the same. Simple as that. I'm giving my opinion, which I'm entitled to.
have you not noticed no one else here agrees with you? may the reason be because you're wrong?? if you haven't owned an 03 don't try to compare it, you're just making youreself look dumb.

and yes, i owned an 03 cobra that made over 750whp...

to the op, go for it i don't think you'll have any regrets.

Wait first Sinister owned a 03 now he owned a 99? If you dont buy the car I know of a very nice one for sale thats comp orange with 6k miles for a fair price, its not my car if I had the cash it would be mine though. The cobras are a sweet car and you can listen to almo hes one fast mo fugga in these cars. With 5grand you can have one seriously fast street car on your hands.

No he owned a 99' and it had three factory recalls so he is saying they are 90% the same car 99 to 03-04. And that even though they have different internals, suspension, brakes, IRS, transmission they are still 90% the same car.

Yeah because there is so much debate on the power a 2003/2004 Cobra makes and the potential of it.

Condemn the COBRA BECAUSE FORD LIED ABOUT ONE TEN YEARS AGO!!! CONDEMN!!!

Congrats... is it pullied already?

If not, get a pulley and tune and some DRs on that bad boy and she will make 2 to 3 99 Cobras.

And that will never happen again... hence why some 03/04s put down 385 to the wheels down to the stock paper filter. Some have stated higher but 385 is what I have seen.

My 04, before I tossed a KB on it put down 434 with a K&N drop in and a Catback. That HP to the wheels for its time for $35K was well worth going through the 10BHP SAE difference they cert'ed for the 1999 Cobra. Either way, simple A/F lean gave them the 10 to 15 extra BHP numbers to reach 305.

I saw a stock 2002 Auto C5 put down 272 to the wheels... what's the drivetrain loss on transaxle and IRS C5 going through an Auto that was SAE cert'ed at 350 brake hp? 22.5% drivetrain loss? I don't think so but then again we can just call GM a liar on this one too.

I believe it has a smaller pulley on it already as well as other go fast goodies that I've always wanted in a go fast toy like this one that I have just bought. I may take a little road trip to Modular Powerhouse and see what the wizard says it has!!!
