Shelby Eleanor
Ive been looking into picking one of these up but have a few questions. A few years ago the ones built by Unique Performance seemed to be the most sought after and best cars. Since they have now gone out of business is that still the case?
Can any owners give me some of their opinions on the car?
Thanks

Look up MTK in www.l4p.com; he got his before they went belly up. His was outfitted with a Roush w/NOS. Had a problem with overheating upon delivery and I really didn't like the way they kept the old wiring which puzzled me (ripe for an electrical fire.)
I looked it over and it's well built considering the age of the chassis; suggest he replace the radiator and appears that was the problem. A pity since nearly everything had a Carroll Shelby signature or plaque including the radiator.
Overall, it's a good looking a well built from what I could see, but up close, I'd probably rewire it - they didn't bother to put grommets where wires passed throught the front bulkhead/radiator support. You pay that kind of money, you should expect them to go over the details a bit.

Unique was a joke of a shop. Might have been decent at the beginning, but they pretty quickly started cutting corners and putting out junk. Sooo many pissed off customers. Many have dedicated websites to documenting their nightmares. Like ^^ said, for the stupid prices they were charging, you should expect a killer car. Their markup had to be like 200%. They werent anything super exotic or special unless you upgraded to the super duper thunder snake or whatever for like $225k (like Jason Giambi and many did).
I can't remember the name but there is a shop in Oklahoma I think that is building these now and must have worked out some kind of deal on the licensing. Supposedly they are putting out a good product, but still you are paying such a premium for a famous movie car.
FWIW, I really like the looks of these cars, but you could have one built to your specs by a good shop for under $100k with a lot of good parts.

Agreed.
Should be some well built distress sale Eleanor style 'Stangs out there now for even less then what it would cost you to build it.
The Ring Brothers cars are in a different league obviously then the Eleanor cars, but a prime example of what a great platform those 67-68's are.

http://www.classic-recreations.com/ The 410 cid (stroked 351) model starts off at $139,000 ... leather is an $1500 option!
It's an extra cost option again on the $189,000 427 cid S/C version, which does not say if its a 351 stroker or a true 427. For that money, it should be an all-aluminum BB 427 obviously.
Getting back to the OP's request, if I run across an owner of one of these Eleanor style cars I'll let you know.
