I've been looking for a new ride(sold my 996Gt2 and 2010 GTR) and was recenly offered a new 2010 ZR1 (w/ 3zr package) for invoice. Is that a great deal or what? Anyone have any 2010 ZR1 experiences? Will be used primarily as a street car and will see very little if any track use. If I decided to track it more, I'd change out the drivers seat(w pads, fluid etc.). I know the interiors are not all that but I don't find it that objectionable in a sports car. Performance seems great but I wonder if I'd keep it for more than a year. Appreciate any insights.

We had one here for a set of 19/20" wheels back in December and they are absolute animals out the cage when it comes to acceleration.
I'm a SRT Viper guy and the ZR1 pulls harder than that!!
I'd say go for it. Here's the one that we did.

GLOSS BLACK CENTER / CHROME LIP
19x10.5" - 2.5" lip - OEM Tire
20x12.5" - 3.5" lip - OEM Tire

Think so, even with the C7 version upcoming? Didn't happen with the previous ZR1. Anyone drive one? Hows the handling feel? Heard the steering is a bit light and disconnected(likely compared to a GT3/2). Great performance numbers but wonder if it would hold my attention for a couple of years. Thanks for the feedback.

Actually the market on the C4 ZR-1's has not been too bad at it's worst and seems to be on the rise now. The market is quite strong, but it will get better with time. Then again....why buy a museum piece right?
The C6 ZR-1? Return of the king? I think it'll be pretty solid due to the production numbers if nothing else.

$110ish. How's the GTR? Mine was great, just time for a change.

Fantastic, as always...
I'd love to go for a ride in a ZR-1, though... All of that unbridled power just seems intoxicating to me. For $110k, I'd jump on it. That sounds like a GREAT deal.
I was quoted ~$145ish for one (I forgot the actual number). It included a "market adjustment".

Go for it. Its an animal from what Ive read and seen. You would have to go hyper exotic to beat it STOCK TO STOCK. Only cars Ive seen trap close to the ZR1 1/4 mile and mile trap speed[133mph+ and 179mph respectively] were the gen IV Vipers[131mph and 175mph respectively] ZR1 is the bad boy.
BTW did you get a chance to mod that GTR before you sold it? It can be a nasty nasty beast.

Fanstastic drivability. I would have done more if I kept it but always wondered about reliability. Still, I had never had an issue with the car and would consider one again. I often wonder why I sold Actually, I had been thinking of getting a new GT3RS-even before I got the GTR and had the opportunity to sell to a private buyer instead of a stealer so... Seems theres lot of good deals to be had on some hot cars lately-too bad not on a 3RS though. I'd like to hold on to the next one for a few years so it's gotta hit all the buttons. Trying to cure this car A.D.D. thing

Yes, I agree. One the things that appeals to me about the car is it's day to day practicality. People say that you are either a Porsche guy or Corvette. I was once of the same opinion but am always open to the possibility of change and improvement. Now, more a performance car guy regardless of brand as my recent foray with the GTR will show(loved it). My question with regard to the ZR1 is feel and driving satisfaction. Realizing that Porsche's GT cars are more precise in terms of feel, I'm wondering if I could tolerate the lack of the same in the ZR1. I acknowledge that it's a completely different design and package and it's ultimate performance may be higher. Further, I've heard the ZR1 has a very smooth ride to compliment the DD role. However, handling feel is an important component that I'd hate to compromise. It should be fun to drive at minimum. That's why I ask about experiences.

I have driven the Z06 pretty extensively, but not a ZR1. The Corvette produces more mechanical grip and has more front grip than most 911's due to its huge front tires. Steering feel or tactility continues to improve but its not on the level with a GT2 or GT3 by any means. Fun to drive is putting it mildly when your talking about a Z06 or ZR1 but thats if your like me and fun is also encroaching fear! The GTR's competence won't prepare you for the insanity of a car that can spin its tires at freeway speeds, you almost have to have a certain respect for a powerful RWD car like the ZR1.
The ZR1's bad things are comparable to the Z06, namely seats that do not hold you in place at the over 1G cornering the ZR1 is capable of. The brakes are absolutely insane and also having to trust the front end grip because the steering may not be as communicative as you are used to. But there is something to be said about a 638 hp car with a 100k powertrain warranty!

I read your first post then a couple of others and decided to post. The reason being your comment regarding "will the ZR1 keep your interest in a year". You just sold a 2010 GTR that did not hold your attention. Have you ever owned a vette period would be my first question. They are great cars but get slammed by first time owners because they do not have all the refinements that European cars have. And that is exactly the point. You can by a porsche at the same price with a nice interior but the vette will out perform it. Why? Because Chevy does not put the money into the interiors and creature comforts. They put it into performance. To equal or exceed the Corvette performance level, one would have to spend a whole lot more just to keep the nice interior. The real question to me is why doesn't everyone else offer a stripped down version of their car instead of Chevy having to add comfort which will move the price up. So why did you give up the other two cars? There was something that did not hold your interest and I suspect it was more than reliabilty concerns with the GTR. Maybe the ZR1 wouldn't hold your interest either as just a daily street car. There are far better options out there if that is all you plan to use it for and not just bragging rights.
