Oh I didn't know it was modified, I should have known that 505 would not be enough!

I think 4.10 gears, a tune, LT headers , X pipe and exhaust would make it a really fun DD!

I am ordering the 3:73's. I have a 50 mile round trip highway commute, so I wanna keep it civil. So no headers, just a cat-back. The Z is loud enough....

Thanks! I'm not really that up to speed on the pony cars anymore. It's definitely more exciting than it was in the '90s, though.

Is the Z/28 placement just where you expect it to be or have you seen the testing? There has been no magazine allowed near the Z/28 to date and it is rumored to have 556HP/550TQ. I wouldn't put it behind the GT500, especially when the 2011 GT's are so close to the GT500's, lol.

I throughly expect the Z/28 to be the king of the off the shelf pony cars, for the time being anyway.

I agree on that. After being around a ton of the 2010 Camaro's and driving a lot of them, they are just to heavy to be any fun in the corners. Plus the CTS-V motor, if that's what they use, will only add more weight to the nose. I think it would have to go on an insane serious diet to bring any fun handling to the mix. In a straight line it might be king, but we will see.

Those are just the levels, the cars fit in I didn't put them in any order. And 6-7 mph of trap speed tells the real story. The GT500's are very traction limited right off the line so 0-60 and ET wise it may seem like the cars are close. In the real world they are not close in performance and the 2011 GT500 even handles better than the lighter GT thanks to its tires.

The Z28 will trap at least 118 mph which is what the CTS-V traps with the same engine and at 4300 lbs. The Z28 will be heavy but it won't be that heavy and also keep in mind the GT500 is a heavy car as well. If you read the Motor Trend Test between the 635 rwhp Super Snake and the 590 rwhp Hennesey Camaro 650 the Camaro launched harder and ET's better despite having less power.

The GT500 engine because of its displacement disadvantage makes less power under the curve than the LSA that is in the V. And if they can make a 4300 lb leather lined, azz massaging Caddy slap the competition around I am sure the Camaro won't be bad in the corners.

Good point. IMO the Z28 will be at least at GT500 levels....

I didn't put it behind the GT500, I was just showing Jasper the cars heirarchy as far as how they compare.

new GT good value, but after driving one not so soul stirring. sadly missed - my 04 cobra, and if i ever leave the porsche return to american muscle - would be to an 03/04 cobra. hand assembled engines, forged internals, 6 sp trans and what all other mustangs do NOT have, IRS....actually means with minor mods to suspension you can have a real road car.
gone now.....04 cobra vert 1 of approx 5700, whipple blower, MAFia, BAP, magnaflow exhaust, foose 19", pro tune....on a dyno at 575rwHP.....
these cobras now real values - lo milers in lo 20's

pics from last yr

Please don't say that I have not driven a 5.0 yet and I hoped that I would like them better than the old S197s.

Here is my old car....so we share similar taste!

really nice mustang....its a GT right....

03/04 terminators (cobra's) were quite different especially with their independent rear suspension.....and weight is perhaps over 300lbs less than new Mustang. But they do need stiffening (any sways and full length sub chassis connectors). out of the box at 400hp with their forged internals/race headers achieving plus 600 rwHP requires only bigger blower, pro tune
properly modified-blazing fast...and actually have a kartlike feel. only thing better imo tt supra.........as i said dearly love my 911, but miss the cobra

Looks like we do have similar tastes! Heres my 01 Cobra Coupe. Still has IRS and 4 valve, just not the blower.
