1968 Pontiac Firebird Full Restoration
Hey there,
My name is Alexander Jackson I am 23 years old and I live in Nashville,TN. I have always had an interest in cars my whole life. It has started with a 1986 Honda Prelude, 2002 Honda Civic SI, then a 2000 Honda S2000. All these were extremely fun but I was burnt out on just minor engine modifications and suspension. So, I decided to take on a full restoration of American Muscle. It did not take long for me to find what I wanted. I wanted something light and not so beefy like most other muscle cars so it was between first generation Camaro or Firebird. I chose the Bird because I believe everyone has a Camaro so I wanted something different. My father impressed with my interest in cars invested with me. I sold my S2000 and got a 1968 Pontiac Firebird and started to take it apart. Two people work with me on this car, a shop helper, and the best ASE certified mechanic on this side of the Mississippi, Bill. This website seemed an appropriate place to post this build since the caliber of cars I have seen on here. I have pictures of it together but is misplaced on my brothers hard drive some where so we will start later on in the build. These are just iPhone photos for now sorry.
Starting
Almost fully strip and heading to Indianapolis to get chemical dipped
After 2 weeks I got it back and I knew I had m work cut out for me
Built a rotisserie
First major purchase 455 big block from a 1975 Pontiac Grand Prix
I was going to build my own but this price was way more cost effective than building one
Next was the Tremec 5 speed with an Aluminum flywheel and driveshaft, scatter steel bell-housing and 550hp clutch all with the Tremec
455 mated with the Tremec
Next were my rims
CCW Classics 17x9 275 front 17x9.5 285 rear
Now back to the body. ALL PARTS WERE ALL PURCHASED FROM YEAR ONE INC. First the floor pans and a trunk pan
Seat Pans
Quarter panel was next
Next was my favorite part my suspension. I did not want my car to ride like 1968 so I decked it out from head to toe
Heidt's complete front suspension and Strange Engineering complete rear end including four link witth the sub frame connectors Willwood 4 pistons and 13in crossdrilled and slotted rotors. unisteer power steering QA1 coilovers all around
Back to the body. I finished the floor pans and moved on to the bottom the the car and did a little bondo work.
I was tired of rust so i coated it in some spray bondo on the inside and under

A little bondo work
I did not want to mount my rear carriage with the nuts and bolts provided so I welded it into place
Ready to set the car down and putting things together to make sure everything works
I once heard that any man can restore a car but it takes a real man to cut into it. So I made my engine mounts and moved the 455 3inches into the firewall for a little weight distribution.
This is close to how she sits now
That is Bill
Just a test fit
Flowmasters exhaust with my Headmen Headders
Had to make a mounting bracket for slave cylinder
Suspension Shots
This is this week. Shop clean up
My color choice is Lamborghini Grey
I'll be posting up more as my project goes on. Thanks again

Steering column taken apart to fix but it cost less money just to buy a new one.
New Summit racing universal column in place
New Flaming River U-Joints and steering shaft
Stainless Steel clutch line hooked up with great pressure
My inventory for old original Firebird parts shelf
New panels and parts
more to come
thanks
