Should i trade my Gallardo for a New Viper GTS

Ouch. You had some problems with yours. Thats too bad. How did you know i bought the VooDoo? Lol. You must be on one of the Viper forums as well. Haha. Here is a pic. I pick it up next Thursday. I cant wait. Ya my buddies have all had great luck with their Gallardos. No major issues at all. Other than my one bud who has a twin turbo G. Now that thing is crazy expensive to keep running. Ouch. Lol
I knew you bought one because you mentioned in the first pg of this thread lol

My first 2 Vipers (2005 and 2009) were modified and raced. Never had any problems as their engines were pretty much bullet proof. Not common to have engine problems in any generation of Viper. When my '05 vert was stock it edged out a 2006 vert Gallardo in the 1/4. Stock my '09 blew it away. My '13 GTS is in a whole other league. Another month or so the tracks in the northeast will open. Can't arrive soon enough.

Please quantify your prejudice. I'm curious.
That's like comparing a GMC truck to a Caddy to a Stingray. Or a Ford GT to a Fusion. How do you draw a parallel from normal Dodge products to how the new Viper is designed/engineered/assembled?

My first-year 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8 had a few minor problems, but was an excellent, high-quality car for the roughly 75,000 miles I owned it from new. The powertrain & suspension was excellent, as were the electronics.
While many may judge the interior design, the long-term quality, fit, wear and feel of the controls was top-notch.
Personally I would not judge a newer Viper because it is a "Dodge".

Surfer, the particular Dodge vehicle's my dad has owned are 4 different minivans. All had serious issues whether mechanical or transmission problems. My brother use to have a Dodge stratus always in the shop and a terrible paint that looked like sand paper after awhile. Before that he had a Dodge Daytona again it too was also in the shop. After that he switched over to owning a Chevy HHR and a Ford Mustang both cars have been awesome to own. He has no desires to ever owning a Dodge again. This is the reason that I have never owned a Dodge vehicle. I stick with Chevy for my daily driver. My first one was a Chevy Beretta which was pretty reliable. After that I replaced it with a Chevy HHR an awesome car to have with a lot of style. They've been very reliable and well built. Also of course has style.
When I sold my 01' with close to 70k miles, that included tons and tons of hard track use primarily at Sebring and VIR, not 1 issue besides normal maintenance (of which is pretty cheap on this car for this performance as well). Super easy to work on a lot of stuff on your own as well. As a whole Vipers are generally rock solid and reliable. Extremely rare to even have a minor issue.
Be interesting to see what SRT has up their sleeve for the ACR and how pricing would be with what the pricing is now for SRT/TA/GTS. Plus the TA has already proven what it's capable of and how sorted it is, beating out cars running much better tires inc the ZR1 running Sport Cups. When the TA was fitted with SC it just destroyed the ZR1 on track by about 2.5 seconds per lap, per lap... ridiculously fast, and shows how much tires make a difference. SRT needs to get their act together on tires vs the Corsas the Viper is shod with now, I mean there's not even an option for better tire package. Meanwhile GM has the Michelin contract for Sport Cups/tires, and somehow even got new Pirelli Trofeo Rs on the new Z28. How they got Trofeo Rs on a Z28 1st when SRT is contracted with Pirelli now is beyond me lol. ACR better come with Trofeo Rs.
The Viper is made by SRT (a little different than Dodge). Not like it's the same assembly lines, etc...

Minivans = GARBAGE
Stratus = GARBAGE
Daytona = GARBAGE
Congrats on wasting money on garbage. I don't like cheap Dodge passenger cars, either. Always been a GM guy myself. I even created LS1Tech.com if you need a reference on my GM background.
But, I love the Viper. You would be ignorant to base your opinions on Vipers on the GARBAGE cars you've mentioned. Not even close, sorry. Had you owned a Cavalier, maybe a Lumina, or maybe a Berretta, you'd probably be saying C7 Corvettes and CTS-Vs are bad quality, too. Just as ignorant.
Leo, stock Gallardos are not fast. Vipers are comfortable for average sized humans, agreed not comfy for 280 lb people.

Actually the Corvette is a solid well made car. Cadillac Cts-Vs are indeed awesome. The Dodge Viper does look sharp and it's of course an exotic car. Just wasn't sure what the quality is like of the latest ones. The Dodges I had mentioned were of course in a different league than the Viper. Again I'm sorry to be bringing anything up about my Dad and brother having bad luck with there Dodge cars which are daily drivers. I just worry about the quality of the Viper even if I shouldn't.

I like the looks of the new Viper but they keep losing value... i just saw anuther NEW GTS 2013 going from $135 to $117! why is that? and there is a lot of Srt Viper with 200-1000 in the used cars section... i think some people are no happy and they are trading it with very low miles....

Excellent write up
I love Vipers I just think the 04-06 vipers were horrible! I have the problem with the engine and I also had a problem with the engine fan... That was another $4000 :-(
The Viper ACR Voodo edition is the best looking viper ever! Don't be selfish! Post some pics!
