0-60 mph in 3.4 sec! Jeep SRT8 with SRT600 Turbo HEMI
#31
I had a 07 for 24 months by the 12th month it was falling apart. Its a shame that they dont build it better becasue its one hell of a car in stock form. I cant imagine it with 600hp. How reliable is the kit ? Because the car itself isn't that reliable. My transmission on it blew in within 10k miles
I haven't had any issues, and I've had mine for about as long as this thread is old.
The blower/turbo kits that are available now are solid.
Hellion just designed a Twin Turbo kit for the 6.1 Hemi, and when I talked to Jon Urist, he said they are working on the piping for the Twin Turbo kit for the SRT8 Cherokee. This is the route I am going.
But ZBOSS is right, the weak link is in the drivetrain, specifically the bottom end. NO FORGED INTERNALS!!
This means any blower/turbo kit we buy is restricted to somewhere between 7 - 9 psi. max. Any more and we run the risk of the bottom end coming apart.
As well, the tranny and transfer case can't take any real horsepower without being strengthened. Kinda sucks.
The bottom line? You can drive them hard, really hard, but you can't abuse them.
But you know what? All that aside?
I can't get enough of this machine!! The more I drive it, the more I want to drive it!
I think only another SRT8 Cherokee owner or someone who has driven one for more than 15 minutes can relate to this.
The Part Time All Wheel Drive is amazing! It's 2 Wheel Drive until the *** end starts to break loose, then the fronts are engaged, but only till there's traction again.
Then it's back to 2 Wheel Drive! No wasted Horsepower going to the front diff. And only a small percentage goes to front diff "when needed".
One of the little known reasons this machine is just a little quicker than the rest.
Most people just *** sume that the SRT8 Cherokee is AWD.
Lets face it, in this day and age, you need every little edge that you can get. There are some fast street machines out there.
Anyhow, back to topic:
Mated with the Benz 5 speed Auto, this is what makes this machine deadly fatal to almost anyone who dares pull up. ESPECIALLY if you only get to rip through a couple of gears!!
What the boys at SRT have done here, is created the ultimate light-to-light terror.
And if you are like me, and go out rippin it up every weekend that you can, but only make it to the track once or twice a year? Then this the machine you should be driving.
And don't even get me started on the brakes! Like, come on now! This machine has the brakes from hell!
I've used those monster Brembos hardcore, at least once or twice.
All this, and remembering .. .. .. it's still just an S.U.V.
Not a Porsche or Z-06.
In the 25 years I've been building motors and cars, I've seen more scores settled, and most reputations built .. .. .. In 2 blocks or less.
Lets face it, I don't know about some of the others, but for me, some of the most intense and best races I've had were never planned.
Someone rolls up beside you.
You exchange a once over of each others ride.
Nothing said.
But you know it's on.
It's all over in a block n a half.
Then again .. .. .. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah I don't think under 2 seconds is really doable, but I have seen a guy spraying on his SRT8 cut a 2.85 0-60 (Z-box verified).
I'm sure some have done it in even quicker times.

What is he spraying, 250+? Anything less I don't believe it, even then I don't think I do. A Veyron has over 1000 HP, similar weight and barely can do that. I doubt a modded Jeep can take a SV670 too. It takes ALOT to even gain that much 0-60. Not calling you out, but I have been around drag racing a long time and it takes something else to pull off a 0-60 like that. I would need some real proof.

It's got an extremely fast 0-60, but since 0-60 really means nothing in real world performance...that doesn't matter much.
After 60 mph it slows down quite a bit. It's about as fast a stock 996TT in the 1/4 mile (12.2 @ 115)..and from a roll, a stock 996TT would beat it badly.

I would hope it would beat it from a roll.....
