1971 Corvette 454 Problem
I have a 1971 454 corvette, and its been giving me some trouble lately. First off, I would like to say that I enjoy working on my car and I do not really trust people around the Savannah, Georgia area to work on it.
The problem I am having is the car feels like it is vapor locking when the block gets hot. I dont believe it can be that, though. I have had the car put together for over 10 years now, and I never had a problem with it vapor locking before. Just to make sure this wasn't the problem, I tried to find a wrap or a sleeve to place around the fuel line because it goes straight down the block. I looked everywhere and I cannot find one. Any suggestions on that?
I ran the car yesterday and it died on me on the side of the HWY. I popped the hood and felt the fuel line and its cool, so I dont really think thats the problem. I figured maybe it could be the fuel pump, so I decided to change that out and its STILL doing it.. I dont know what else to look for. I just know when I looked in the carb, there was no fuel.
What would you all say?

start with your timing and ignition system. we had this problem recently on our 302 Camaro. If your base timing is off, you can experience similar symptoms.
Is this under normal driving, does it lurch before getting up and going, or stumble?
Check your fuel filter also.
