Tracking the Vantage
Much to my wife's horror I took the Vantage to the track this week. I was there 2 weeks ago in similar conditions with my Porsche TT and the best I could do was a 1min 03sec lap on track tyres. The Vantage did consistent 1min 06 sec laps on street tyres and felt very balanced and easy to drive fast. Interestingly an 08 M3 driven by an instructor was also doing the same lap times.
The only downside was that I didn't get to hear the exhast note from the outside (it was voted the toughest sounding car on the day!). Too bad i love this thing too much as a road car. I can just imagine what could be done with a supercharger and a set of slicks.

You may also consider adding the sports pack - available as an option in model year 2009 and will soon be available as a retrofit to older models. As you may have read it does wonderful things to the car's handling and not to the expense of comfort.

Which track ??? FYI - I now have a newly designed brake duct kit for my Vantage and track days. I had brake fade at Sebring previously - this should take care of it - it gets hot in the South and I had this issue w/ my modded 996tt too - going again to Sebring next month w/ the Vantage. I 'll see if this is a cure. Check w/ HZ at RSC if you are interested in the kit. Nice to see someone else getting into just how good these cars are ... especially on the track.
