There is now a solution to retrofit the 08-> standard ipod connector interface to older models, consult your dealer.

My Toyota FJ Cruiser reads mp3s, my M3 does not and now the new Vantage eather... mp3 is soo much better. You can load 400 songs on one CD and never remove it. Can't believe AM didn't think of this.

Adam,
I am working at the factory again tomorrow on some ideas. I will get some more pictures of the Ipod kit I fitted to one of their engineering cars (05 V8). Can you let me have your email address through our website and I will respond directly.
As for the installation. To get the information required to be able to build this interface, I had to agree to some strict rules regarding the supply and installation of these kits, so as not to affect the electronics on the car. Also the car does have to come to pieces quite substantially, so it is not for the faint hearted engineer. However if there is a top class installations company you know then I would be happy to train them on the car. To this end at present the kit is only available to be fitted either by myself or via the dealer network. However due to the fact that the factory are working on their own Ipod solution (late summer and around $2000.00) and because my solution is not an official AM product, the dealers are loath to help. So it looks like I may be on a massive US tour to install Ipod kits.
Now I am more than happy to do this, providing I can get 4-5 cars together over 2 days, then it will make it worth it for me to come over.
I do need to update our website, I seem to have spent far too much time getting the kit off the ground...
Thank you for your time.
Kind Regards
Paralight

Got it. Understood and appreciated. I will go to your website and provide my e-mail address. I thought it was a simple "plug-n-play." I did not realize that you engineered, designed and created the kit. Very cool! Maybe there will be enough interest for you to come to the US??? That would be cool. Sounds interesting. I'm not capable of the install and I would not want my mobile audio guy to do it if they have never done it before either. I would much rather have someone who has done this many times work on my car. Peace of mind goes a long way!
Thanks,
Adam
