Thanks

Damn, that sounds so cheap! What was the sticker on the car?

Sounds pretty good already, but I'd offer $80k and see what happens. Tell him the offer will be open for 48 hours otherwise you're going to make an offer on another vehicle. In this economy, if the seller (or dealer) needs to sell that car for one reason or another, who knows, they might take it. If not, they might counter and you have plenty of negotiation room. I'd expect on a $88k car most sellers are goign to expect at least $1k or 2 to be negotiated off, despite what they might initially say.

I really envy you, by the way, as I was recently looking at a Vantage too (but can't fit, and probably can't afford to actually drive the car either :-P) : Here is my thread documenting my quest...so far I'm really leaning toward the Vantage's little sister, Jag XKR. See my last post in the thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...8-vantage.html

Dane, I was dealing with Chad Tatum on that white Aston. I offered 80 and they dropped the price to $84,991. They would not come down from this price so I told them to call me when it gets to 80. They also told me they had a guy that was going to buy it but they would sell it to me first...kind of silly if you ask me! Another silly thing they have is a $500 dealer fee that they have to charge! It`s a great deal at 80 with the options and miles but I would not pay any more. Let me know if you buy it.

Is the car you are interested in on eBay? I think $85K is a fair price, I would be shocked if a dealer took $80K on a 2008 that is still under warranty, decent mileage and has maintenance records. But you never know. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

If you are serious about the car dane1201, ask the AM dealer that will service the car for you to verify the options and the maintenance records. This may or may not give you something to negotiate with.

Damn, that is a lot of car for $85k. I think I am going to be sick. You cannot find deals like that here in Chicago. Best luck and beautiful color.

Saw a 2007 AMV8 at the Las Vegas AM Dealer. 4K miles and asking $70K.

I think mid 80's for 2008 is a bit much in relative terms.

That Las Vegas AM was a pretty sweet deal too. Those are not the norm. Also, you get an extra year of warranty with the 2008, compared to a 2007 that may be out of warranty. Just something to think about.

Yeah, $70k for an '07 is not the norm at all. I have heard of a few sweet deals like that but since so few 2010's are coming to the US prices have really stabilized. I was at my local AM dealer on Friday and we discussed this very issue. There are so few V8V being traded that price points are all over the board. He commented that for low mileage, high optioned, desireable colored cars, that they have noticed prices increase slightly during the last few months. I would think low to mid-$80k's for a highly optioned, low mileage car is still a decent deal. You can get a 2 year warranty for about $5 that covers everything the original warranty covers. So for about $85k you can have the peace of mind of an '09 and still have money for mods!

The '07 is a very good deal, especially coming from an AM dealer. I don't think that one will last long.

The '08 convertible they discounted to $82K is not fully loaded. Again, all things considered, a well optioned '08, with decent mileage, maintenance records, warranty and popular color for $85K is a fair price.

I wonder how many people have actually purchased an '08 with the above specs for $80K. I'm sure there aren't many.

So your real decision is do you want an '07 or an '08.

The Vantage in Las Vegas has been there for at least a few weeks, although was at a slightly higher price. If an AM dealer is selling at this price, and this dealer is not normally "shy" in its asking prices, it would seem to me that this is the new market value.
At these prices I am thinking of trading my 996TT for one..............but is it too slow?

Not too slow, but slower than the 996TT.
