I know it's crap, but I don't like having things not work in my car.

I'm receiving zero satellites, so I'm going to try buying another antenna to see if that makes a difference. I'm not sure where the OEM antenna is mounted, but I can find some place to mount another one if it works.

Ok I'm the same :-)
I think the antenna is the one on the roof isn't it?

I thought the roof antenna is just for the radio, but I could be wrong.

Correct. Not sure where the antenna is for the satnav though.

I just found the GPS antenna. It's in the trunk lid, toward the right (passenger) side. Incidentally, it's got a Jaguar sticker on it.

Hey can I buy the Volvo navigation discs to work in my 2007 V8 Vantage? My navigation has been in another state for the past couple months the AM dealer worked on the car & when I got it back it has been screwed up... I have to bring it back to them to fix it but if the discs will work I can update the system..

When you say it's in another state, are you receiving a satellite signal? (Check under system settings-->info, or something like that.) Mine is getting 0 satellites, even with a change in the antenna. I'd like to know if the new navigation discs have any effect in this situation--I suspect not, but who knows.

In case this helps anyone...

My navigation is now working. Things I had tried that didn't work:
  • leaving the car outside on a sunny day
  • removing and reinserting the disc
  • replacing the west disc with the east disc (Illinois is on both, but Florida is only on the west disc!)
  • battery disconnect
  • unplugging and then reconnecting the cables from the back of the navigation unit
  • replacing the gps antenna under the rear hatch

What seemed to work, inexplicably, was again unplugging and reconnecting the cables from the back of the navigation unit, although I only unplugged two of the three (middle and left, as seen from the front of the unit). Maybe I unplugged them for longer this time--about 10 minutes.

I suspect I may never actually use the navigation, but at least I feel better knowing it's not broken.

So did unplugging the nav worked or not? Is it easy to unplug the nav? I am having the same problem. Thanks

FYI: First time posted and new owner of an 08 Vantage.

Funny that the sat navs in such an expensive car are such crap. I don't know what model year your Vantage is, but the new sat navs on the Vantage are "improved" but still crap.

Yes, eventually (as I wrote in the post you quoted).

There are two ways to unplug the three cables. One is to reach behind the unit without unbolting it. It helps if you have small hands, since it's a tight squeeze. The other is to unbolt the nav unit, although I found that I needed to get a socket wrench that ratchets in a very small arc, since there's not much room. Once you unbolt the unit, you can reach behind it more easily to unplug the cables.

Are you referring to the nav reader box in the trunk or the nav screen. Thxs!

The navigation unit in the trunk, along the left side.

Wow! I tried last night and it's a really tight fit. Will try again later this weekend.

I tried again and it was too tight. I got smart and killed the battery with the battery disable button. Still didn’t work so I disassembled the nav to get access to the plugs. Unplugged and plugged back- still didn’t work.

I am so lost without a nav. Last Friday I made a detour in route to my house because the freeway was so slow. I was lost for about 45 minutes and 30 miles of course.
