2010 Vantage OR 2010 Turbo pdk

I post this on the turbo side, like to gather some feedback here as well. maybe some of you here has both, or own one after the other? Or if you have look into both. All thoughts are welcome.

I am NOT concern over horse power or zero to 60 time. Turbo is ahead of the curve on that. Just design, exclusivity, build quality, maintenance cost , ownership experience(driving), reliability and resale value. I pretty figure out all the positives and negatives of both. But love to hear what your thoughts are. Thank you!

I'd much rather get a used gallardo, DB9, or Bentley GT personally, gallardo being at the top of the list due to design, exclusivity, and performance. If you're buying a new car, the depreciation will be the worst in the first 1-2 years and neither the vantage nor the TT is a real exotic car if that's what you're looking for (I would be if I was spending 100k+ lol).

At $130K, if you're deciding between these two cars only, I would recommend getting a mint 2007 or 2008, and adding some performance and aesthetic upgrades. For the AMV8 that would mean chip, exhaust, rims, and a supercharger if you wanted the speed. For the turbo, I'd get a CPO, add rims, lower it, and do an exhaust and chip for an extra boost of HP. In either of these situations involving a 2007-08, you'll get a car that has nearly the same look as the current model, comparable if not faster speed, rims to make them stand out, and money in your pocket.

The wildcard is financing.

If you're set on 2010 models, the AMV8 is more exclusive and flashy. The TT is a better all around car IMO, and more dependable if you wanted to keep it for 4 years and put 40K miles on it.

I am a fan of both and cross-shopped the two as I'm sure most here did. In fact, I had ordered a 997TT before actually driving it. Then I drove it and found that I just didn't care for the way it drove...way too much turbo lag, felt kind of twitchy, and terrible exhaust note. That said, it can be a good daily driver if you get used to the way it drives, and I'm sure the new '10 version fixes a fair amount of the turbo lag. Once I drove the Vantage I knew I preferred it even though it wasn't as fast. The awesome exhaust note and flat V8 torque curve with higher redline, great interior swathed in leather, plus the exclusivity and mystique just made it more of an event.

With the SC and other mods I have a car that I feel is every bit as fast as a 997TT and still has all of the other qualities I liked before. If I was going to choose just one as a daily driver...well I'd choose neither and get an E92 M3 which is cheaper and better as a DD or even better the X5 which is tons more practical. Since the Vantage is a more of a weekend toy I can live with it being a bit more extreme.

People on the 997 board mentioned the paint/build quality, but I've found the paint to be perfect and the build quality to be every bit as good as my previous Porsche. The nav sucks but I never use it anyway. In future versions I'm sure they'll integrate it into the dash better and use a higher quality screen and software. Clearly the nav wasn't a major concern for me in this car and if it was possible I'd just take it out. Otherwise the car has been reliable and has only had minor fixable problems.

If you listen to Top Gear (which is run by a bunch a of brits) they picked the 997S(n/a) over the Aston 8. There is an Aston 8 in my hood which looks and sounds fantastic, but he won't engage in any street play with me. Maybe he is too busy with the blond Bond girl that is always in the passenger seat.

Save 50k and buy a super clean 2008 997 TT with under 10k miles.

Porsche TT? Eveyone's got one (or so it seems). The AMV8 and TT are two way different machines. I don't know how anyone could realistically 'cross shop' these two cars. You either want the beauty and exclusivity of the AM, or you want the power and speed of the TT.

When you sit inside an Aston, you know it's a special place to be. The TT? Just another fast Porsche.

And any of you Porsche fanbois who want to race, go look for some other sucker, you're just little boys playing with toys.

XJRS, that was a productive post.

As for Zinger, you have mentioned selling your car on several occasions. What are you asking for your white beauty?

I am cross shopping the two car because of their differences. But you are right, one is beauty and the other is power. They are price very close to each other, and there are things I love in both.

If you don't care about performance, why buy new? You can save a ton of cash buying either of these used. You could buy many cars for the price of these new...
