Db9

Hello,

I have a few questions about these cars, I'm looking at a 2006 DB9

Now

1- Do these cars come with exhaust manafolds or a ture header.. If they are manafolds why do I see no advitersing for headers anywhere just the cats and catback?...

2- Dealer is telling me 8000 for 2 year bumper to bumper waranty. Is this something i would need. The car has 30k miles.. it seams to be in perfect shape for the milage.

3- What performance mods are out there , other than the CAI, Chip, catback.

4- any issues with th 06 year, and any reason I could not put on another 50k with out any troubles

5- and how do the sport auto clutches last.. are they better than lambo every 7k miles need replaced

6- how much is a clutch replacement cost?

7- Which is the prefered lowering kit to go with , and how much lower can you get them

8-is there a someone who supplies a " race" wing for this car, love that wing..yaya i know most of you think the car looks fine stock, but to each there own

9- the car has wood trim in it now, is there a kit to cover all original wood trim with carbon fiber

10-has anyone sucessfully put a baby seat in the back of one of these, something for a toddler and then to a booster seat as they get bigger

Thanks for your time , looking foward to some answers.

Thanks

Happy to help you out with some mods. We have cats, exhaust & ecu upgrades available. No headers - to be honest, no-one has ever approached us with much interest, however it is definitely a possibility.

NO headers???? that would give ya a good 30hp right off the top would it not?? I know on my V10 a set of good long tube headers gives you 30 to 45hp..

I am definitely interested in some nice long tube headers, Maybe take two cylinders into one, and then 3 sets of two into 1, kinda like the try y for the v10...

If you had a reasonable price on a set of headers I would go for them and I'm sure others would.. If not Ill have to get a custom set built over here.

Now how is the heat build up in the engine bay?? is it a problem with this car as my viper is? Because a good header with ceramic coating would cool the engine bay a couple hundred degrees and help performance as well..

After spending quite a few years with a 996 Turbo, a car with virtually no limits to what was available in terms of mods, the DB9 is quite the opposite. Not that I want to change a lot, but because of the low volume and probable lack of owner interest, there isn't much out there. It seems like you are someone who wants to do a lot and will therefore find DB9 ownership frustrating.

From your questions and comments, the DB9 isn't for you. Stick to a Viper or a Z06 if you like mods.

The lack of replies also reflects the fact that most that post here on the forum are Vantage owners. There may be DB9 owners out there that tune in, but I haven't seen many comments from them.

You are seriously wasting your time and energy just thinking about headers. The DB9 has 4 primary and 2 secondary cats, plus 8 oxygen sensors. The primary cats are essentially built-in to the exhaust manifolds which are 6 into 3 into 1, where it then joins the exhaust system which has the secondary cat.

This is why nobody makes (or will ever make) a header system and why people don't 'mod' a DB9 except for cosmetics, including wheels. And just as an FYI, just removing/replacing the manifolds is easily a $2000 job since you've got to drop the entire front suspension and subframe, as well as the steering column and starter motor.

DB9s are neither mod friendly nor cheap/easy to work on. You want to change the plugs? Remove the intake manifold.

Like I said, stick with the Viper or a Z06 if you want to play around.

I guess I'm looking at a custom header for this ride then, I found a couple companies who will design a nice equal length long tube header, and full exhaust from front to back including all sensors etc.. Should be interesting to see it done.

Thanks for the input guys..

Best bet...go to the Aston Martin website. They've got all kinds of shots. I think I remember seeing a photo of the complete drivetrain removed from the car (maybe in a brochure).

Is this some kind of joke? Just get a Prodrive DB9 if you're for real.

Joke?? I don't see anything comical about it, I'm just looking to put a full exhaust on the car front to back, That is nothing unusual in the auto industry. And I would also like to lower and chip it and maybe a couple body mods.. I don't see that being two extreme, maybe a twin turbo stroker motor now that may be a bit over the top.. anyhow just looking for some info and ways to get the most HP out of a nice car with out going into the motor and doing work.

I figure 450bhp stock, they say a cat back is 20hp, new high flow cats 20 or so hp, and I know a long tube header would get you 30 to 45hp on this size of engine that would get me up to the 500 bhp mark and add on the flash of the computer and your up to 530 bph.. as everyone knows you can not take mods and add the gains as each one would have on a stock motor, all together they would be close to 80 85 hp... Thats all I'm lookin for an extra few hp with the exhaust a insane F1 sound..

does this sound over the top to you??? two mods?? full exhaust and chip... sounds fairly minimal to me...
