I'm looking at an 07 amv and was told that it has a chip in it that has given it an extra 50 hp. I have asked for more details but was wondering if any of you guys, or girls, have any comments regarding this. Is it something that I should be concerned about? I don't know alot about mods on Vantages so thought I would get your opinions.

 

Not 50, but 35 is very possible.

 

Sounds like BS to me, since there are no 'chips' for AMs. It might have been reprogrammed, but not 'chipped'.

 

AM offers a kit for 20 HP. RSC site is a good reference to check out for a more complete mod system including exhaust, cats and filters,

 

Optimistic for sure. You can get 50BHP out of the 4.3L cars but it requires more than just an ECU reprogram (also, the AMV8 ECU is not chip tuneable as a previous poster mentioned so it is likely reprogrammed)

Whereabouts in Canada are you? Would be happy to do a little investigating into the car/mods if you'd like.

I live north of Toronto. Put a deposit on the car today. Hope to get it in about 7-10 days. Have to figure out shipping vs. picking up?
