There is a post in another thread on how to fix it. Very helpful!

What was the final verdict? We're you successful with the integrated aftermarket nav?

I use my iphone which has a tom tom app. The cradle was custom installed just to the left of my radio. It also provides me with access to my iPod app on my iPhone and XM satellite radio... no to mention my blue tooth. It's the best solution IMO.

I successfully gutted out the Stock Nav Screen and directly replaced it with the slickest GPS available, the Garmin Nuvi 3790LMT. The nav portal still automatically pops open when starting the ehicle and closes when shutting down.

I'll post some pics tomorrow. The picture quality will be pretty crappy cause I’m out of town this week with only an interim phone- was waiting for the iphone LTE since I lost my last smartphone but may purchase an LTE phone this weekend cause Apple did not introduce a new iphone at the WWDC earlier today. I am so proud of myself, the result looks very integrated.

The 3790LMT is light years from the stock nav. The voice command feature is 99% dead on unlike most other gadgets. The road speed limit is so accurate. The speed limit read out literally instantly changed as I passed the speed sign. The display is comparable to any smart phone.

Ok looking forward to it...I don't use the stock nav ever but I might if the retrofit looked good enough. Can you post install instructions as well?

Why not try the Garmin 53?
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=10573

Perfect for retrofitting oem and utilizing the oem screen but the joy of Garmin simplicity.
My GT-R and Audi both have these and works perfectly.
I'm looking at a Vantage S in the very near future and this will be the first modification.

I removed the console panel. Removed the nav. Unhooked the nav electrical ribbon cable. Reinserted the 2 nav cables to test if the motor still works automatically- so happy it did. Removed the screen from the plastic frame. Kept only the back frame. As a front frame, I cutted a plastic dvd container to the shape of the back frame face and cutted a hole in the middle in the shape of the Garmin dock. Ran the DC Cord inside the back frame and new fabricated frame and then glued it together. Sanded the frame and painted it piano black or at least I tried to emulate the color. Plugged the Garmin dock and installed it on the frame. Assembled everything back together. I ran out of time last weekend so wiring the Garmin DC cord will have to wait till this Friday. I know I left some details but yall are welcome to call me if you’re really gonna pursue this- I hope the calls does not get out of hand. After planning, the hardest part of the project was the painting which I suck at! I kept all the nonused parts, screen, ribbon, front frame, etc. in case I ever want to revert. Here is the result:

Apologize for the poor picture quality. It was taken with my sucky phone while I was driving to work this morning.

How did you unhook the console panel?

Did you remove the side leather panels first?
