P0401, problem code
my brother just contacted me and said that the check engine light came on and he took the car to my local mechanic, has anyone here had this code pop up on their vantage? i attempted to do a search but the internet out here is running like crap and the search function is not working for me. it appears that universally this code is for the egr but i wanted to verify with you guys.
he said the car seems to be running fine. the car has been sitting for roughly 6 months and he has started it up once every two weeks and only driven it 3 times.

Sounds like what I have - and car runs fine. I have mine go off periodically - just an emmisions thing probably based on my 200 cell cats. Light goes off/away after about 5 start ups (or less). I can not find a reason for light coming on - not consisitant but does always go off and car never misses a beat.

thanks, the car was used so i do not know the history of any mods. i have similar problems with emissions on my mustangs and i would clear the code, if it turns out to be persistent then i will look into it more heavily i guess.

P0401 - EGR Restricted Flow Detected
Note: This code is monitored by comparing the pressure differential across the EGR orificewith the high valve duty parameters in the PCM. Any illogical set of comparison data willtrigger a fault condition. The code will be logged under the following conditions:If the EVR duty cycle (egrdc) is less than 80%.If the manifold vacuum is less than 6 inches Hg.If the air mass is less than 8lb/min.If time exceeding the threshold is more than 35 seconds.
