Updated intake manifold and ECU

Is the upgraded intake manifold and ECU upgrade worth the $4k from the dealership to push the 4.3L 2007 Vantages from 380hp to 420hp?

How much more wear and tear does this cause on the clutch and tranny? FYI, I've been driving manual for more than 10 years so I know how to drive manual.

the upgrade is to 400, not 420. The 420 number you're referencing to is the stock of the 2009+ vantage. You'd get better bang for your buck with cats, an ECU, and perf. air filter from RSC for the same price(ish)

Ahh i see... and i wouldn't be able to really feel the difference between 380 and 400 so probably pointless if i went the manufacturer route.

anecdotally, you can apparently feel it. The Vantage is probably not a true 380hp engine and the powerpack raises it to at least 400hp, so the gains are there. The intake is a nice piece of kit, but you'll feel more gain definitely with 200 cell catalysts, an air filter, and an ECU tune from RSC. You can also drill holes in your airbox, but I'm not sure how much that would help. At any rate, with the above mods, you'll keep pace with a 4.7.

no incremental wear on the clutch or tranny at all. I mean, I GUESS it may wear out 3% faster or something, but that's purely a function of increased power (and most of its at the top end)

Would be happy to discuss an RSC package with you at your convenience. As another poster mentioned, for pretty much the same $$$ we can do Cats/ECU/Filters and you're into quite a bit more power, plus the cats give it a great sound.

Drop me a line at Stuart@RSCTuning.com and I'll get right back to you.

I have the Larini system (cats, box, etc.) and power pack upgrade. I can feel a difference. No problem keeping up with any 4.7L car.
