07 v8v stock dyno figures

My stock run is:

The one part of this dyno run that blows my mind is the Air-Fuel Mixture Ratio. It's starts as it should in the low RPMs at ~14.7:1, but at 4,000 RPM it drops below 12.5:1 (the max HP ratio!) and disappears somewhere below 10:1. I can't imagine any computer controlled FI doing that. That ratio causes a significant loss in Max HP.

Thats actually very lean compared to most haha. Mine falls off a cliff and tanks below 10:1 at 4000, it probably bottoms out at 9:1 .... at WOT my injectors are literally urinating into the cylinders lol

when you say it's very expensive, does that mean it will continue to be expensive after someone takes the time to crack the PCM or does some brave individual just have to do it first before the PCM coding is understood?

I will be the brave soul ... once my custom tune is done it will be available for all of you to purchase. This tuner is a very reputable one and they have extensive tuning experience. I will reveal all the info later in the week once everything is complete and dynos have been done. I am hoping for some really solid gains. On the stock 4.3, the tune alone will surpass N400 and maybe even match N420 on software alone... more to come soon.

007 Vantage - I can certainly believe the claims for more 4.3 HP ... will be interesting after you add filters (and maybe open the box too?), 200 cell cats, and an exhaust ... glad to see you taking the time to measure each ... something I should have done !
Thanks in advance for the phased dyno info !!!

Guys,
I am really looking forward to seeing all of this! 007 you are doing great work here and I am eagerly watching for the results. I have a 4.7 and almost certainly will be doing 200 cell cats and exhaust in the spring. Anyone have any experience with AM concerning warranty issues when doing the cats?

Of course ... I bought the aston with this whole project in mind. To me dynoing after each mod and charting the progress is half the fun.
My ultimate goal is to prove you can make amazing gains NA on the vantage without having to spend absurd amounts of money doing so (not that money is an issue for most of us, just in principle). My cross hairs are set on v12 like performance in a much lighter package. Obviously you can't make v12 power on the 4.3, but perhaps you can make v12 power/weight ratio which is the target. Now if you apply my same mods to the 4.7 .... you might actually be able to get v12 power, who knows

question, don't manufacturers run their engine's richer at high revs to increase cooling to the engine? could it be that the engineers found the v8 running hot so they compensated with the afr?

I do have a theory which I will share in the full write up is completed. In brief, it was done on purpose intentionally for numerous reasons which I will explain once all the empirical is collected and posted.
More to come ....

AND - while you are in there mucking around w/ the ECU ... could you please help out "Throttle Response" ! A good example is a 2007 V8 Vantage vs. 2007 Cayman S (w/ no Sport button). The Cayman throttle response is so much better than the AM - yeah I know about gearing and clutches but I do not believe that is the case on the Vantage (a lighter flywheel did not do the trick w/ my Vantage). Maybe your SW guru can crack the code ...

Short answer is - Yes.
I have installed both K&N and RSC filters ... also have tried the AM Powerpack air boxes (they open a flap providing additional air at about 4500 RPM) and drilled holes in "stock" airbox ... while air flow into the engine was certainly improved (a good thing), no individual or combo of these mods improved throttle response near the level of my Cayman S (or others) example.

I am going to go out on a limb here .... after going through this car with a fine tooth comb, I sincerely believe 450-470 is possible on the 4.3 ... i know that sounds like a lot but there is so much that can be done to boost power output on these since aston sandbagged so badly

470whp? I think thats a little high. The only thing a tune will do is advanced the timing a little and adjust the air fuel ratio which seems to be insanely rich at wot Id say theres some gains there it could be set at high 10's low 11's. Our shelby goes 10.8 at wot and it made 540whp. By the way I think its REALLY COOL you guys are modding your cars Im a Ford guy at heart and I really like astons too, one of my favorite cars and so gorgeous. 007 best of luck to ya brotha.

Interesting numbers, and here are some others I've been able to come up with for the Vantage. Anyone confirm these? CD = .33 to .34. Frontal Area = ~ 23 square feet. That indicates Aerodynamic loss at 175mph is about 280HP, leaving around 20-30HP for Rolling resistance losses at that speed.
