Thermostat ...
#46
It's time to flush the coolant in my 2007 V8 Vantage, and I figured I'd do the thermostat at the same time after reading about various stories of the rubber coming apart and either sticking the thermostat open, or getting sucked into the system. I don't think any of it has been changed yet.
My distillation of this thread seems to indicate that Ford upgraded the design of this thermostat at some point to prevent the rubber from coming off. So:
1) Aston part is 6G43-32-10449.
2) Jaguar part AJ811788 is the same as the OEM Aston thermostat.
3) The upgraded part is sold as Ford 2W9Z-8575-AB or Mastercraft RT1163.
Can anyone corroborate this info? Has anyone else used the upgraded sucker?

I used a Ford 'stat from NAPA. Had to remove housing completely from engine to get enough leverage on it to get the tabs under the ears though. It did NOT want to go gently into that good night... Anyway, has worked flawlessly since.

So yeah I need to get this done as when its cold out my thermostat only goes to about one tick short of where the proper position should be
this RT1163 is the correct one, yes? (nothing changed with the thermostat for the 4.7L motor, correct?)

20 bucks shipped? lol
What about the thermostat housing O-ring, did anyone ever find the motorcraft part# of that? Or is not even needed to change out

Motorcraft - Seal (P) (RTS1079) https://a.co/d/5xyTf79
It is not much cheaper than the genuine AM O-Ring, under $16
