can astons survive after 100k+ miles?

this is a dumb question, but i know almost nothing about astons, except that they are the most beautiful cars that money can buy. i heard that the reliability of astons are...well...you know..., but ppl here have said that they're astons are well built and the 09+ engines on the vantage v8 are pretty much bullet proof. i plan on keeping the next car for a while (like 10 yrs+) so reliability is a HUGE issue. so i was wondering, do astons or the engine fall apart before you hit 100k on the odo? has anyone kept an aston with over 100k miles clocked on?

thanks in advance for your help.

I have heard of 60k with no issues. The 4.3L is just as reliable.

The thing to consider about the current crop of AMs is that these are the ones from the Ford era. The electrical bits are sourced from Volvo and that injected a fair bit of reliability in the things that traditionally were source of so much of the reputation befitting an english car (Lucas Prince of Darkness reference here). While the reviewers have dinged the cars for having buttons from a volvo IMO that is a small price to pay for buttons that work and seem to continue to do so.
As mentioned above the engine is sourced from Jag and has been around a while. That adds another facet to the reliability.
This is much like an upscale version of what Lotus is going through with its current generation of cars with Toyota powerplants. Kind of the best of both worlds. Reliable engines mated to a kick **** suspension/chasis.

thanks a lot for the posts so far.

again, excuse me for my ignorance, but what usually happens around the 60k mark?

i also heard that some early 07 models have oil leakage problems, but i heard that issue has been fixed.

Where I was going with it was I have only heard of 60k on them and they are fine. Perhaps someone has more, but I have not heard.

Ali of ESX Motorsports had a DB9 with over 100K miles. He posted a youtube video a year or two ago when his car met that milestone!

Although these cars are Exotics, because many of the parts are sourced from standard production vehicles there really isn't any issues you have to worry about like you do with Ferrari & Lambo. You do not need engine rebuild or anything like that.

IMO that is the true beauty of the Aston Vantage, it really is the best of both worlds. It may very well be one of the most practical/reliable true exotics out there (as long as you do proper maintenance and take care of her)

.... at least in my experience so far (knock on wood)

+1 Not sure about "true exotic", but certainly agree with the spirit of the post. Very reliable for what it is.

Hmm I may be nit picking even more than you....but I disagree. Why does it show up in such mass media rankings for exotics then?

No, its not a super exotic or a hyper.....but it is an exotic low production hand built car that also happens to be reliable thanks to ex parent Fords quality control help.

I agree detomaso ... its not a hyper-car like a Pagani Zonda ... but it is DEFINITELY an exotic in every sense of the word.

Other than the crazy brake squeal that just wouldn’t go away no matter what we tried... no complains at all.
