Lowering springs

Guys,

I'm thinking about lowing the car with H&R springs from RSC but have some questions.
1. Aside from the more aggressive look, does car handle better?
2. Will the OEM shock worn out lot faster?
3. Approx. $ for install? I had my previous car (Audi) lowered and it was 6 hours of work plus alignment. Should I be expecting the same $600?

TIA for any help.
Pete

are RSC 20mm drop or 40mm drop? I know normal H&R is 40mm drop. Sports pack has no drop at all but improved "damper & spring rates" as well as swaybar, correct?

It's the 1.25" drop ~ 32mm drop from RSC Sport Lowering Kit for AMV8.

I have the H&R springs..
1. Yes, handling is definitely improved. Feels great.
2. Don't know on this one, I haven't had any problems.
3. I'd say that's a fair estimate...$600-$1000 with install, counter balance, and alignment.

My AM dealer is charging me $1,100 for the install of custom Eibach spec springs. He tells me it is a lot of work to breakdown the assembly and install new springs.

Find an indie. It ain't rocket science. Then get an alignment somewhere. $1000 seems like a real hose job.

Eibach quit producing V8V springs I was informed by Martin Choppen of Kahn Design martin@kahndesigncom, whom I have purchased the springs from. He informed me he has therefore commissioned a custom order from a different company to produce the exact Eibach spec springs.

I could cared less what the specs are, I just want my car to sit as it would with the Eibach springs.

Contact Martin if you need to try and get the specs??

Seems pretty cheap co pared to the $50k or more you're probably going to spend on sending your car to England and back for an engine rebuild. . What did he say it was just to drop the engine...20-30 hours?

CRVETR - see my AVA.

Paid my indie just under a grand ... out the door ... it is some work ... they did a great job and did not screw-up anything else

And yes the RSC springs were an improvement - esp. on track.

I hear you. Unfortunately I don't have time to go and bird-dog some shop that may think they know what they're doing. Also I don't have time to drive my car all over town. The AM dealer picks my car from my house and the customer service is second to none.

That customer service and ease of handling are sure worth a few hundred extra dollars over some indepependant garage whom I have no idea that they will stand behind their work.

WOW! That amazes me....I would have thought a lot less work than that.

I stand corrected.

I agree that a solid AM dealer who has dealt with you fairly makes it easier to spend that amount. Glad that you have a dealership like that.
