Ghost in my machine . . .

Ghost in my machine . . .
I was entering a destination into the fantastic sat nav system of my Vantage today and it stopped responding to my inputs. It then turned itself off and closed. I tried to turn it back on several times, but each time the system would open and then shut back down. I gave up on it and just used my iPhone to find the destination, but on the way there the stereo would momentarily cut out, the sat nav would automatically open itself, and then shut down after a few seconds. This happened repeatedly every minute or so until I finally turned the car off for about 10 seconds at a stop light.
Has anyone experience anything like this? The car's fine now, but my concern is that electrical/computer issues like this have a tendency to recur.

I haven't experienced that, but I often come out to find my windshield wipers on. And I mean with the car off, keys in my pocket...the wipers are going like mad with a nice big black streak across the windshield from them each time :/

I don't, no. But I *think* my battery is fine. I typically drive the car at least once a week.

The Sat Nav in both of my cars has been "buggy". If you try to move to fast it tends to freeze up. I don't think there is any real issues but I would try it again in a day or two and move deliberately and slow with the controls. I would still get it to the dealer at some point just in case. I had a buggy stereo in he V8 and eventually, it stopped working. It was a wire that created a short and I needed a new amp. So if it continues, I would take it in. Of all of the virtues of this car, I hope to God that they address the Sat/Nav in the next generation. It is the one thing that does not live up to the AM standard.

Thanks Jay. It may have been pressing buttons too quickly that tripped up the system now that you mention it.
BTW, Aston has addressed the sat nav. Some of the newest cars (2012?) have Garmin-based systems.

I wonder if the Garmin could be retro-fit.
