Good point, he disappeared... As did dragon mikes henchmen .

All jokes aside, I do think this is a big area for improvement, but first I want to get my tune sorted out and finalized for maximized gains. 2nd, do high flow cats + cats tune! then most likely Stuarts Headers + stage 3 tune, then finally 4th, the crank pulley. Crank pulley will be last as the other three mods are much larger bottlenecks.

Furthermore, the reason I will save pulley until last is because it does not require a retune so that means I can leave it until the end and not require a 4th retune. I also don't want it to skew the results of the other 3 mods hence leaving it till the end.

Could this device be helpful in improving throttle response?

Bandaid solution, That does not solve the problem, it just tries to mask it and gives it too sharp of pedal sensitivity (read: jerky). The real problem is rotating mass.

Edit: the dummy who wrote this post failed to take the above stuff in context. Sorry, all.

Um, yeah, and he's not contradicting that. The problem is too much rotating mass. The solution is less rotating mass. That's why his solution is to reduce the rotating mass on the crank pulley.

Correct, there are a couple ways to do this, I am trying to decide which route to take. Hopefully by summer this will be done.

Thanks for your patience on this one guys, trying my best to move the project forward as quickly as possible, but as always, there are delays. Summer most of the cars mods should be complete

Thank you not to say anything. I bought the lightweight pulley "Vantage 007" for $ 1,000. It was spent on the dyno with Mike, and then I put in the trash. I just lost $ 1,000 because I trusted a person who does not know the mechanics. No difference and even dangerous for the motor.
For cons, I trust in Stuart and Mike ...

It was a machined stock OEM pulley, it cannot be "trash". Mike was just talking trash bc he wanted to sell you a fully built motor (which makes sense he has financial incentive to bash everyone which is why he is no logger on this forum).

Furthermore, even using YOUR own specs/statistic you provided, my machined pulley was way BETTER balanced than the stock OEM pulley so it was a very significant improvement. You can never make the OEM pulley as balanced as a perfectly machined billet steel pulley from scratch, but given your numbers it was roughly 80% of the way for a fraction of the cost. You should be pissed at Mike trying to rip you off! not me saving you money

I do not buy mikes propaganda that the only way to make power is build a full race motor for an insane amount of money. If you buy into his propaganda/bashing fair enough, but not all of us are as easily gullible. Mike always said "you cannot make power doing mod ABC, so buy my product XYZ". I have proved him wrong every single time and will continue to do so ... And will enjoy it every single step of the way.

He is not a messiah, stop worshipping him for no reason

Vince, why did put a lightweight crankshaft pulley in the trash?

Lightweight dampers and lightweight pulleys have been used on all other makes and models of cars for decades without ill-effect. Understanding harmonics and the damage they can cause is one thing, but most of these cars are street driven and rarely see revs about 5-6K RPM. Harmonics start to destroy things higher up in the rev range without the proper balancing. Reducing rotating mass is a simple way to help reduce drag on the engine and speed up the assembly from idle. Most manufacturers like Unorthodox and SLP make undampened and dampened units. For a race motor an undampened unit is fine and usually recommended if the vehicle is solely for racing. Is the lightened unit you are planning on 007 going to retain the dampener? If so, I would be interested in one, once it is developed. I too am of the belief of making(saving) power by mechanical advantage and "destressing" the engines' output. As long as the lightened unit retains the dampener assembly, the harmonics of each combustion event will be dampened and extra torsional and vertical forces on the bearings and crank will be minimized just like OEM.

If the lightweight pulley is still in the trash get it out I will buy it off you.

I have spoken to a neighbour who was a Formula 1 mechanic for Renault some years back and he speaks well of this mod.

I would be keen to try it out with my high flow manifolds cat delete and x pipe on my Vantage.

If it feels good, do it!

Yes, reduced mass wakes up the 4.3L.

Applied Stuart's lightweight rotors and Michelin's lightweight tires to my 07 coupe. My "seat of pants" review says, a noticeable, significant improvement.

007, do not wait until last mod to take this 4.5# reduction, do it first, do it now...and report here.

I surmise (educated guess) the added mass to the front of the crank was to make up for the loss of the calming effect of the automatic transmission torque converters which had been the only transmission available on every previous application of this engine in Jags, Lincoln LS and Thunderbird.
